First LD Success/Difficulties

Last night I had my first successful lucid dream. Unfortunately, and perhaps because it was my first time, I was not able to exert particularly fine control over it; I was just able to confirm that I was dreaming, and to summon minor objects (I was not able to change the fact that I was in my house, but I was able to create a computer where there isn’t one in my house, for example). My biggest obstacle was that for some reason I was not able to see out of my left eye, which I think distracted me from being able to make any larger changes. The only reason for this that I can think of is that I usually sleep on my stomach, and perhaps I had that side of my face pressed into my pillow. Would that have any bearing on a dream in your experiences, or is it just one of those things that I’ll get with practice?

Welcome, zuno

I’ve had that problem too, and many other people as well. Your theory is actually interesting, I haven’t thought of it before  Many thing affect your dreams though, and I rarely actually fall asleep on my stomach, so for me that’s probably the case.

In the beginning of dreams, as they form, they get detail gradually. Many times as soon as you enter a LD you are totally blind! So you have to rub your hands or focus on the senses you do have, to get grounded in the dream. And calmly wait for the dream to form completely around you. So I guess that might be a possibility, the dream isn’t completely formed and stable, so you only have half sight  sometimes I can see through both eyes, but only the lower half, as if my eyes were half shut :bored:

Anyway, just kep practicing and you’ll get good sight soon enough!
