I started trying this about 4 nights ago. I remembered that most times, I became lucid in my dreams because something scary was going on and I realized “It’s just a dream”. This gave me an idea. Since nothing else seemed to be working, I could trigger lucidity in my dreams due to scary things happening! But how do I just make these scary things occur in my dreams? I remembered someone saying that whatever you watch on TV before bedtime you’ll dream about. And what better to watch on TV than the things that have given me so many recurrent nightmares: Tornados. Luckily, we have a VHS with a PBS program called Savage Skies. Lots of tornados .
The first two nights it didn’t have any effect . But this didn’t stop me. Third night, lucidity was triggered in one of my dreams (I don’t know how) but I quickly lost the dream. Fourth night (last night), everyone from our church was outside on a long, pretty flat rock. It was by the sea which was under many dark clouds stretching for miles. Of course I was scared of the weather, we were totally out in the open! I thought I saw a tornado, but it was so big and wasn’t swirling. Flase alarm . Then I looked over to my right and I saw a white twister out in the sea, sucking up the water. “Look, Dad! A tornado!” I said, hoping that we would jump in the car and drive off quickly.
Everyone gave me a laugh like I was a foolish little child. This is when I said, “Oh, pfft. It’s a dream!” I suddenly start losing the dream as I yell repeatedly, “Increase lucidity!!”
That’s my problem. Just like the last dream in which lucidity was triggered, I couldn’t do anything as soon as I was lucid. I just start exiting the dream and I can’t get back in. Does anyone know how I can stay in the dream? I really want to be able to do stuff, especially now that I found such an easy way to LD!
By the way, I’m not sure if this technique for LDs will work for everyone, but it seems to work great for me
CHEESE! Cheese is the answer to all your problems!
I had a (slightly) similar idea earlier today, actually. Basically, any night I don’t masturbate, I wil have a wet dream, or at least dream about sex. Now, usually the precursor to me having sex is thinking “hey, I’m in a dream, it doesn’t matter what I do”. Only now, I’ll be able to become fully lucid when this happens, instead of just using it as an excuse for sex.
I just realized, everyone’s gonna think I’m some sort of wierdy pervert person now…
"Basically, any night I don’t masturbate, I wil have a wet dream, or at least dream about sex. "
You have now offically became Sex God Deputy!:)Good on you, excellent career ahead of you if you keep working hard:)All needed to do now is to erase this “dont” from your habits:)
Good idea Tride, if only I could engineer it to work for me. (I rarely have nightmares) I guess I could expose myself to a certain media and try to reinforce the idea of RCing along with it.
BTW I have supressed everything Wannabe wrote after the cheese
It is a great idea. The last luicd dream I had was triggered by a (rare) nightmare. It wasn’t the fact that I was coming under attack by ‘kites’ that made me realise I was dreaming, it was the lion on the neighbour’s patio!
Unfortunately, the lucidity faded before I could do anything about it.
I have noticed that lucidity is triggered for me in scary dreams as well. I will realize that I am dreaming, and I will actually change my dream, or wake myself up.
If only I wouldn’t do that, and would do some fun stuff instead!
Yeah, thats exactly what I’ve found. Every single scary dream that I’ve had since I’ve learnt about LDing I’ve become lucid in. But then again, making yourself dream about things can be rather hard and probably not worth the effort.
About staying in the dream, just try not to get too excited or anything, just relax and do whatever you want. Try not to think about waking up at all either. Keep in mind that sometimes you’re just unlucky and become lucid at the end of your dream when you were about to wake up anyway. Infact that can happen quite often because since you’re slighty more concious its slighty easier to become lucid.
this may sound kind of strange, but in the last few years I don’t remember having a single nightmare…come to think of it I can’t remember a single nightmare I’ve had
The nightmare I had was the first one I’ve had that I can actually remember. I know I’ve had nightmares I just can’t think of any so its been many moons . . . . .
The scariest part was it was 4:50ish AM, I was just going back to sleep from WBTB. Was having trouble getting to sleep. I looked at the clock it said 4:56. Then all these screams. I hide my head under the covers. A voice in my head??? tells me “It is better to lose whats outside your head than whats inside.” I suck it up stick my head out from under the covers and was drug away by a ghost.
very intristing quote by the ghoust thing, i think it’d be cool if you made that ur sig, seeing that u dont currently have one “It is better to lose what’s outside your head than whats inside” - The Voice In My Head
lol, still a very intristing thought provoking quote…
about nightmares: Since I learned about LDing I have had 1 nightmare, and when the dream started to fade as it ended, I thought, ‘hey, this is all a dream! Perfect, I’m not being chased my mutant sloths!’ (that wasn’t what my dream was actually about, don’t worry) but I was so relieved that my life was actually normal again, that I didn’t think to try and KEEP lucididy! sigh I hate my mind at night! It never feels LD’s are important enough, how can I make my dream mind CARE about LD’s, I spent so much time not getting too excited about LD’s (I’d wake up) that now all the stuff I plan to do in a LD drift away. Any suggestions?
I do have a sig but its usually too much work to click the box for it to show up. Is there a way to set it so the sig always displays without having to find that little box? I am seriously considering changing it though. That dream quote or from “About a Boy:”(pretty funny movie)
“Just shut up. You’re wounding my soul”
