I was at an all night party (Project Graduation) hosted by the high school that I just Graduated from. Towards the end of the night (aka about 4AM) a hypnotist began his work on a select number of volunteers in front of most of the graduating class.
Well I wasn’t selected (but the kid in front of me was ), but I decided to focus along and listen to see if I could at least get into a trance state of mind where I could tell myself to have more lucid dreams and such.
I closed my eyes and did as he said until I found myself unable to move. I could open/close and move my eyes at will, as well as my mouth (So I was able to tell my friend what the heck I was going through).
I was confused, could it be some kind of sleep paralysis? Was I really seeing and speaking? Was it just an odd dream? Then I heard the hypnotist say “Raise your right hand, as high as you can, like you are asking me a question.” I saw the volunteers’ hands go up slowly. I thought “wow, he got it to work on them” Then I saw movement out of the corner of my eye, so I looked (by moving my eye, I couldn’t move my neck). I was surprised to see my arm rising.
As he gave commands, I continued to obey, with little choice. At one point I was given $100,000 and told to hide it (which I did, in my friends shirt) then I was asked what I would buy with it. My conscious mind was thinking about the question when my mouth surprised me and blurted out “Pizza”. Apparently I didn’t have full control over my mouth or speech.
Also when he said “and…sleep” I collapsed, semi asleep, with my eyes involuntarilly closed. I was eventually ale to resist when he said “You are an exotic male dancer”, but really only be sheer will power coupled with my ex-girlfriend trying to egg me on (although I still danced a little…mostly just in the shoulders). When he said it was almost time to go, I decided to snap out of it, which is really the best way I can describe it. I just “snapped” the link and regained full control like nothing had happened.
So I wasn’t really hypnotized, because I was still conscious, but yet I lost direct control of my body as if I were. Has anyone ever heard of this before? Was it even hypnosis or something else altogether? Before last night I didn’t think it was possible…
EDIT: Yes I verified that I didn’t forget anything, and no I was not seen by the hypnotist, he had no idea I was “hypnotized”, because I was all the way in the back of the room and everyone was standing.
