Getting it all back...

Hi Guys/Girls,

Haven’t been online here for a loonggggg while, but good to see the board is still going , thats great!

Reason for not being online, well… Thats just it… I have nothing to say… My lucid dreaming abilities have gone! Vanished! I haven’t had a single one for over more than 8 months now. At least I feel it’s been like 8 months. When I first became interested in LD’s I joined this forum, and I think after a few tries I had one almost every week! They gradually became less frequent, and now it seems like how hard I try, or when I actually don’t try that hard… Nothing!. Like I could never do it all in the firstplace. Which is a shame because I was still activly studying them you see!
My DJ is now probably on page 39825672985 lol.

I used to be good at WILD after a while and it became my favourite technique

Can any of these things be a factor for losing the ability?

  • I started going to the gym, losing weight alot, and eating less
  • I am getting older (above 30)
  • Haven’t been Gaming for a while
  • Moved to a different country

Or do I just need to focus more, or do something else?
Because right now it’s like all my learnings have gone straight out the window

Well to get your abilitiy back you have made the first step by coming back here.

Desire is key, never forget that.

That depends on how much you have reduced your intake on food, and what foods you are now not eating. As you may be aware, there are sections on this forum that talk about food intake and lucidity, ie what foods and vits are good for dream recall and lucid dreaming. But I would guess that 1. you are eating a normal amount? in other words your not killing your self
2. your are probally intaking a normal range of vits and therefore this is probally not a cause
In sum i would suggest that in general eating less will not greatly effect your dreams, infact, eating less, or over eating, will actual keep you ina lighter sleep ergo better dream recall… not something i suggest

It is true that as you age you spend less time in REM, but the other side of the coin is this, as you age you learn a lot more and have more control over your body (to an extent) use your knowledge to your advantage, so lets say you dream 5 times a night not 6, if you are more experienced wouldnt it be better to be lucid in 4 out of 5 then 1 out of 6?

Simply no this shouldnt reduce your effects at your age

If a lot of your lucid dreams involved games, maybe. Games are a great way to focus parts of your mind, and also incorp into your dreams. By dreaming of games you are more likely to notice that it is not reality and enter a lucid dream. I say more likely not it will happen.

This, if anything, should stimulate the amount of dreams you are having, and you can use this to your advantage too. think about it like this, you are dreaming of being at your old home old country, snap reality check and there you are inside a dream.

By being a new place you are more then likely to dream about your old enviroment and incorp your new material, ie a new friend who you are dreaming about in your old high shcool. Make sense? Use your dream signs.

I suggest the following:

focus on dream recall - how much do you recall? aim at 2 a night
focus on reality checks
focus on dream signs
Vis lucid dreaming all the time
remember why you first wanted to get into lucid dreaming
be passionate about lucid dreaming.

Do all of the above and i would say that you would increase your chances of getting back into lucid dreaming, at a much higer rate then once a week, but at least 60%

In other words, think about it a lot more, dealve into learning different techs and have fun and you will be lucid dreaming all the time.

Have fun, let me know how you go

Rich

Okay thanks i will try,

btw I can recal almost every dream I have.
If you would put it in a weeks schedule, I can do 4 or 5 out of 7 days.
So recalling is no problem. Thats the thing u see, to myself I can recall
a lot, which would have to make it more easy for me to distinguish a dream.

O well, I shall try and try again heheh…

O yeah, I almost forgot, I hardly go to the pub for drink anymore too

maybe you should have a few drinks, relax a bit  it may not help with lucid dreaming but it will be fun nevertheless.

If your recall is excellent, which as you state it is, re read your dreams before bed and say to your self, this was a dream, this is a dream, i will dream tonight, and when i dream i will realise i am dreaming, imagine as you re read your old dream that you actualy went lucid.

This will help, promise

I was about to make a topic like this! I felt that i have strayed from the original reason for my joining of LD4all, and i want to resolve to put more effort back into trying to induce LD’s.

Update:

Allrighty, had a try last night, and same as before.
I went to sleep, woke up like around 2:15, and it resulted
me not being able to sleep again untill about 4:55  .
No lucid dreams, allthough my dream was about me having to buy
a present for someone, which I was going to do today IRL, which makes
it so darn difficult to distinguish it from reallife, no bizzare stuff going on
like in my DJ when I used to have them.

Good idea Timeless, will try it tonight
