Gliese 581 C

space.com/scienceastronomy/0 … lanet.html

The article is about the new exo-planet that was found some days ago and it’s very similar to earth.

The special thing with this planet is that it lies in the habitable zone. Which means that life can evolve on the planet.

The mean temperature on the planet is said to be somewhere between 0 and 40 degrees celsius.

But the real interesting thing about this, is that it proves that “Earth”-like planets can be more usual in the universe than what scientists have believed.

The planet Gliese 581 C is 20 lightyears from here.
Very close(In astronomic perspective).

EDIT: Added the right link

Wow! That’s really amazing. Of course, 20 light-years away means we won’t be vacationing there for a while

Of course, if we used this, we might have a chance of getting there within our own lifetime.

I hope telescopes or other instruments will be able to determine wether there is life or not wihin my lifetime.

yeah i as reading about warp travel

Interesting as HELL

oh howstuffworks.com, i love you.

No fair! I saw that article yesterday, and I was going to make a topic about it today!

Actually I think I saw a different article (different website) but I’m not sure cause your link isn’t working for me.
[edit]Thanks for fixing the link![/edit]

I’ll post my link as soon as I find it.

I don’t doubt that we’ll be able to determine whether there is or isn’t life in our generation though. Technology just keeps getting better

Yay, wonder what we humans would be turning out to do there.

Gaah!
It makes me want to dance or something. That’s so cool.
That is definitely what I want to do for a living when I’m older.
Look for planets. Something that has to do with space.

We need to hurry up, and get there so that we can destroy it. So many planets to pollute so little time.

Why going so far when we might be able to terraform AND cripple the planets closer to us? Even the Moon!
Hell, we can even fight WARS for/on them! Isn’t it great?

what about getting all the money and powerseeking people to go the heck off to mars, sabotate the rockets, and let earths forests regrow?
