So, I’m tired of having to do RCs, so I’m going to turn to WILDs to get my LDs. lol I know you have to focus on something while your body falls asleep. My idea that I’ll be trying tonight is to focus on a spot in my mouth. When I start getting sleepy and losing my attention, I can just move my tongue over the spot repeatedly to keep my focus there. I’ve read that your eyes and mouth aren’t affected by SP.
Have any of you ever tried a focusing method that is different and not something that’s been discussed? I just feel like I have such a hard time FOCUSING when I start to fall asleep. Help!
If it keeps you focused it would work just fine, but it won’t work if it keeps you awake. While you have to maintain awareness, you do also have to be able to fall asleep. If you don’t sleep, you don’t dream. I’ve said it a million times, but I’ll say it again just in case. If you aren’t already doing it, wake up about 5 hours after first going to sleep and then try the technique. You’ll fall asleep much faster and therefor don’t have to focus as hard.
Ya, just got on a WBTB regime myself. Testing different induction techniques nightly as an experiment. Looking for just the right one. I’ll try that WILD variation tonight.
Sweet idea! Do you recommend that I stay up for an hour, or just wake myself up COMPLETEY while staying in bed (for maybe a minute), then go back to sleep?
It varies from person to person. I take a while to fall asleep, so if I wake up to much it will mess up my attempt. Because of this, I just turn off my alarm and am usually alert enough to go right into WILD. Other people have to get up and go to the bathroom, log on to the computer or other things like that so they don’t just fall back asleep right away.
Play around with it until you find what is right for you
