Hello, this happened to me a couple of months ago and I’m not sure what it was. Anyway I had one of those nights were you really feel like you can do it (those nights usually end up in an LD for me). I decided that I would try WILD, but every time I almost got into the dream, I jerked back awake. That happened about ten times. That’s never happened before and I was just curious as to whether anyone else has ever experienced this.
Is it where like your just lieing down peacefully then all of a sudden you get jerked up and your sitting up all of a sudden?
I’ve heard this description before, in an OBE blog… so if you’re into that sort of thing you might look it up. But if it’s not that… I’m really not one to comment, since I rarely use WILD.
That happens to me ALL THE TIME. Like your just thinking about something like somebody with a trolly coming at you and its too late for it to stop and your reflexes make your whole body jerk in bed. and ultimatly makes you awake and fully aware. Happens to me almost everynight.
Let’s see now, how’s it spelled again? Myoclonic jerk? Something like it. I haven’t read up on it since I haven’t had a problem with it.
yea this happens to me all the time!! I dont really like it cuz it really freaks me out sometimes!!!
I think that you all are thinking of that thing where you’re falling asleep and your whole body jerks and you wake up. This wasn’t like that. When I say that I was jerked awake, I mean that I just sort of woke up quickly, I didn’t really jerk that much. This might sound kind of weird, but the only way that I can describe it being denied access to the dream. I went into the dream for a split second, then woke up quickly. That happened several times before I gave up.
Perhaps you are too excited and too aware?
Yeah, that’s it;P
Napoleon, I have the exact same problem. The problem is Im a slow sleeper (I usually need between 30 min to 1h 30 to sleep) and when I try to WILD, I often wake back a little just because Im trying to concentrate and not drift to far away. But it seems I finally am able to sleep, but it takes me far more time (like 3h) and for the moment I wasn’t able to do WILD conciously (but I’ve done it once even before I search on the net about LD technics !).
I think we need more practice to be able to not wake back while controlling our awareness level.
