Has this ever happened to anyone?

I fell asleep while reading about LDing for the first time as it was posted on a tech site, (digg.com) which i read often.

I would guess and say I was out for a good 5-10 min when in my dream I told myself I wanted to ice skate; however, I was still in the same setting that my initial dream was taking place in… I was skating at work on the carpet…

now, the weird part… once I woke from this, still feeling somewhat out of sorts, I started to dose off again and I had what I can only describe as a pulsating alarm buzz going off in the back of my neck… almost like a cell phone was put on vibrate and someone taped it to the upper section of the back of my neck. This happened (guessing) 3 min or so after I dossed off again. After this happened twice, I felt like I was waking up, opened my eyes for a second, but didn’t want to wake… i closed my eyes again and my minds eye felt blured, at which point I was fully aware I was dreaming. I could only see in 2d though, like looking at a ceiling… DARK animations of demons, fire, blood and the like were swirling all about, much like in the movie The Devil’s Advocate where the huge wall sculpture comes to life and turns into a gigantic orgy. Unlike the movie, my vision was in color, and more animated… I watched almost in awe for awhile being fully disturbed yet comfortable for perhaps 45 seconds at which point I woke up for good.

this has NEVER happened before… so i ask? wtf. has this ever happened to anyone here before? esp the vibrations.

When you search for “vibrations” or “buzzing” on the forum (you have a yellow search button on top of the forum page), you’ll find it’s very common especially when you practice WILD.

What you experienced was not really a lucid dream. It was hypnagogic hallucinations (HH). Everybody has HH when they fall asleep, but they cannot realize or remember them cause they are unaware of. You can have cenesthesics HH (vibrations, floating feeling), auditory hallucinations (buzzing, voices, sounds) or visual hallucinations. What you describe are typically visual HH cause they are in 2D and you look at them as they were projected on a screen.

By the way, visual HH are generally more cool, mine are pretty landscapes… but I used to have skulls few years ago! I suppose it’s related to your emotions. When you begin LD’ing, you often feel not very reassured of what you’ll find and this anguish may modify the HH you see.
