Health, Disorders, and Lucid Dreaming

I’m sure someone has thought about this. “What if I could cure my insomnia?”, or “Can my depression be helped by dreaming?” Well, this is what this thread is about.
For whatever reason, since i started researching LDing, and striving for lucidity, I’ve thought about correcting some of my little problems, including insomnia and depression.
I’ve imagined doing this by “visiting” some kind of being, either representing my subconscious, or my physical mind, and asking the about my problems, or asking them to “relieve” the ailments.
I’ve also wondered about increasing mental capacity, or increasing the ability to learn more easily.
Please post your thoughts, comments, and theories.

Many threads about such topics exist, so I suggest you examine them.

To sum it up: Some of it will work, while other things not. Depression will probably not be cured, because it relates to lack of chemicals in the mind and not to a non-reasonable mood. IDK about insomnia. There is an ancedote telling that you can sharpen your studies ofd things you already know, but there wasn’t more than one report of this.

In other words: Experiment!

I disagree on depression being entirely dependant on chemicals. Well, it is dependant, but there are lots of ways to cure it without drugs. Sceletium tortuosum (Kanna) is a nice little plant that might help you, not to mention just using the Law of Attraction to your advantage. I’ve been cured of depression for a long time now, and I was deathly depressed when I was. All it took was a 180° on some of my perception on things. Lucid dreaming definitely helped with that because it re-assured me of there being a lot more to life than this tiny little reality. At first, lucid dreaming WAS my life. Now it’s my OTHER life. A lot of fears and misconceptions can be confronted and annihilated thru lucid dreaming. Keep doing what you’re doing and there’s a good chance you will continue to progress.

I like to think that the two most important ‘things’ in existence are Love and Imagination. Lucid dreaming definitely covers the imagination part… and much more. The Love part is up to you. Combine the two and that’s when things get amazing. No limits! If there are no limits, then why limit yourself to (deep) sadness? Good luck!

Meditation is an allaround tool for healing. It is a fact that meditation can change your brain over time. Dream yogis say that meditation in a dream is worth much more than waking meditation. So right there is a thing to try.

umm, i did some research on this, (kinda desperate) and on one site, it said that it shouldn’t be used by people under the age of 18…

Yeah, meditating while dreaming is hardcore… It’s really hard to do I think. I’ve had little success, but it does feel incredible. The only way I could describe it is that it feels like a electric/voidic rush. I’m too busy flying, chasing tail, etc once I become lucid… Wish I had more discipline to do the things I actually want to do more while lucid. :bored:
