Its been a while since i last posted. Well i have a dilemma i have had LDs in the past but they have been from luck.
Now, i am trying to do them and i am using WILD but i cant seem to get the Hypnogagic Imagery stage yet. All that happens is that i count 1…Iam Dreaming, 2… I am dreaming, 3… I am Dreaming etc and staying aware, then BAM im asleep. Then i wake up in the morning Frustrated.
Please tell me what im doing wrong? and how to stay aware longer?
Also how do i know im coming to the Hypnogagic Imagery Stage? what are the signs?
Counting always did that for me too. Try getting nice and sleepy before even getting into bed. Instead of counting, try visualizing a place to explore and every few seconds remind yourself that it’s a dream. (NOT VILD, it’s different!)
I have been having this same problem. I have yet to have an LD and I have been trying WILD (without WBTB) and last night I waited about a half hour before giving up (afterwards I wish I hadn’t ). I would expect it to take longer without WBTB. Do I jus need to be more patient?
It’s quite simple. You know you are in the hypnogagic state cause you have hypnagogic hallucinations. They can be visual hallucinations (that is sort of 2D images in front of your eyes, for instance faces or landscapes), auditory hallucinations (have a look at the “list of WILD sounds” topic) or cenesthetic hallucinations (that is falling or floating feelings, vibrations, etc.)
Thanks for your posts. I tried last night with visualization but i still just fell asleep, it was so quick 1 second i was vizualizing walking around the moon in a cartoon looking way and suddenly BAMMM im asleep. Why why why lol
Hehe, I remember starting to get into it, sort of a floating feeling, while starting to see a street ahead of me. Suddenly a car came out of no where and hit me. I twitched like crazy in bed. My entire body shook, it totally got me out of it…
Don’t try to force yourself into the imagery, but watch the imagery ‘gently’ as though it were happening outside your own head. It’s difficult, but you need to maintain that feeling of detachment.
Well it happend again, i am gunna keep trying to i do it me determined
Last night i tried a music file called Summerland Lucid Dream Induction, it was relaxing but i lost my areness even faster so i shall keep trying WILD till i master it hehe. Is there anyway of boosting awareness IRL and when trying to LD??
If you always fall asleep, you can try to create a certain degree of uncomfortability that will prevent you to fall asleep suddenly. For instance, put your upperarm and elbow on the bed, but keep your hand and underarm straight up in the air. When you are falling asleep, your hand will fall and this will keep you awake.
Try listening to some music. Something repetative would be good, and just focus on the music and counting and breathing to your counting. My main problem is I forget to breath after a while.
I dont feel that, ofcourse you shouldnt force anything if you dont want to but the imagery is part of you & it always was & will be. You are already in the dream. Maybe its just because everyone has different perceptions of it all & work on different frequencys!
