Most of the times I have an LD, especially when its extremely vivid, I’m always doing something in it. For instance, last night I had an extremely vivid LD, but the whole time I was in a “battle” with my best friend. I kept on making stuff appear in midair like guns and knives and shooting and throwing knives at him, but thats besides the point. The point is that when I have an LD, I’m always doing something in it. I try to get out of the battle by teleporting somewhere else, but it doesnt work! I want to have an LD when I can just do whatever I want, and not be in a storyline thing! Please help!
Well, you’re going to have to take control. If you can’t take control the problem is that you’re not conscious enough. You have to be clear headed and awake. It is possible to break though by resolving to become clear headed and awake when you realise you are dreaming. If you remember that goal you will make a conscious effort to become more conscious and that is a good way of doing it. Otherwise, if you want to raise the general level of consciousness in your dreams you may want to try meditating regularly. The point is to break out of the story line, to remember to stop and reassess the situation. Imagine yourself becoming lucid and remembering to stop whatever you’re doing to decide what you really want to do. Make it your primary goal!
I agree with krakatoa. Another thing you can try is end what you are doing but in a “real” way. What I mean is, instead of just running away or teleporting away from the fight you can, for example, tell your friend “ok, I’m tired of fighting, you win! let’s go do something else”. This way you are still participating in the story but you make it go towards what you want.
I say this because I’ve had the same problem too a few times, and simply trying to leave didn’t work that great for me either. Perhaps the dream doesn’t want to be ignored like that , so I find it a good idea to face the problem directly.
