Help out a former LD'er?

Hey everyone! I used to frequent these forums back when I was younger. I decided to come back both because I am interested in LD’ing again and because I missed the great community. And these smileys. Seeing everything again brought a smile to my face.

Anyway…

I haven’t pursued LD’s in quite a while. Can you all suggest something for me to do to get back into it?

Remembering your whole former experience would be a great start. :content: Getting you back in the mood, remembering the methods you use to successfully have LD’s, getting back into the mood to write them all down… ^^ It can be all done this way. If you think something has changed by then, think of how you could tweak your methods to the changes
Good luck and sweet dreams :dream:

Thanks for that! I’ll be sure to try it out.

My lucid dreaming experience:

September-October 2007 - Joined LD4all, few lucid dreams - quit soon
September-October 2008 - Another go at LD’ing. A couple of lucid dreams.
October-November 2009 - Yet another go. Several lucid dreams (20+ this time).
Late September 2010-Now - Well… You can see where this is going. Had 9 so far.

As you can see I’ve been practicing lucid dreaming for a while, but only for relatively short periods every year (this year I’m sticking with it, though).

First of all, whenever I get back into the habit, the first two weeks I focus on nothing but improving my dream recall. It usually takes me that amount of time to go from 0 dreams to 2-8 a night (yeah, it still varies a lot).

After those two weeks I don’t usually practice any techniques and one could say that I still haven’t really practiced any one technique well over the last several years, although I’ve made quite a few WILD attempts.

Now that I finally have a better understanding of how WILD works, thanks to some great posts and topics in the last few weeks, I realized it’s so much simpler than everyone’s making it out to be.

Aside from that, one thing I’m doing is becoming lucid in waking life. It’s my new kind of reality check (by mine I mean I use it personally, I didn’t invent it). Several times throughout the day, as often as I can, I “become aware” of my state, my surroundings and my consciousness. Then I ask myself if I’m dreaming or not. That way, the RC is more about awareness than just performing a meaningless little check.

The way that’s manifested itself in my dreams so far is that sometimes, I’ll just realize that I’m dreaming when a surge of awareness of myself comes over me. I don’t question reality in my dream. I go straight from not thinking about stuff at all to “I’m dreaming,” which I realize as soon as I think about where I am, or what I’ve been doing.
