Help with first lucid dream?

Ok, so I think I might have had my first lucid dream last night but I have some questions. Let me start by writing the dream itself.

I was in a house with a little girl and a famous youtuber named Edbassmaster. At this part of the dream I kinda halfway knew I was dreaming but couldn’t control my own actions or anything like that. The little girl kept going on about apocalypse and some ghost thing. I was doing constant reality checks but none of them worked. I looked at my hands, and they looked normal. I tried to push my hands through each other and I couldn’t, Edbassmaster tried to help me with this too lol he said, “no no no you gotta do it like this” I tried his way too and it still failed. I plugged my nose and tried to breath through it and I could, but I still was like half conscious and couldn’t control anything. Then I found a mirror, when I looked into it everything was gone, It was just me, the mirror and a white background. The weird part is that what look back at me through the mirror wasn’t myself, it was some nasty demon mutant thing. When I saw this thing I screamed in really high pitched voice that wasn’t my own “I’m dreaming?!” With those words the white background swallowed up my vision and I woke up.

Was this even a lucid dream? I don’t remember having control over anything at any time during this dream.
How come the reality checks didn’t work? Have I been doing them wrong?

well friend you had your first lucid dream! You knew you was dreaming so it was a lucid dream. My first lucid dream was like this I had no control I was just too amazed to do anything and trust me you will learn to control it soon.

Yeah, you were lucid when you said “I’m dreaming?!”. I got situations like this when i was beginner. The reason your dream fade away was probably that you were so excited, you need to stay calm, rub your hands, and say something like “I want to stay”.

About those failed RC there are two possibilities.

  1. IWL you not puting enough meaning behind RC 's, just doing them mechanically not really thinkin if you are dreaming or not. You are sure that world around you is real.

  2. It was FLD and you were just dreaming about doing RC 's (and failling). I never had FLD so can’t really say.

Anyway congratulation on your first lucid dream! Next one will be better!

Hi!
I think I need a little help here too
usually I dream a lot but it was about 4 days that I didn’t have any dreams. today, in the morning when I woke up I remembered I had dream about smoking. and it was me smoking… no details. anyway I was so mad and a little disappointed about the whole Lucid Dreaming.
this afternoon I had nap and and had ND. I skip the story of the dream  . after all that i was mocking a religious man who died 1000 years ago and I made him very angry  he started torturing me. and I was saying:“hey u are not real. you can’t hurt me” and suddenly I said:“it’s a dream”
everything faded so fast. everywhere became black and I woke up by SP. I read a lot about not getting excited and staying calm but I wasn’t excited. I didn’t have a second to do anything. During the SP i tried to enter a dream but I failed.
I really have no idea what happened and what should I do? another thing is everytime I want or try to dream I can’t. I have dreams when I don’t want or try to. does it mean I shouldn’t use any of those technics?
now I’m really worry that what if it happens to me every time I realize I’m dreaming? :anx:

I red about this in Stephen LaBerge book. It seems that some people develop mental block that prevents them from succeeding in lucid dreaming. There are two explanations for this. You may think (subconsciously) that lucid dreaming is difficult therefore you can’t do it. Second option is fear. Concerns that lucid dreaming is dangerous for you. You wrote that you are disapointed and mad so i will go with nr. 1 . To overcome this you could use autosuggestion and tell yourself that many people have lucid dreams so it can’t be that hard to achieve it. Also they are perfectly fine and have alot of fun.

Your problem may be different. Recently you cant recall any dreams and that sounds like symptom of burning out. Maybe you tried to hard, it’s quite common. In that case it’s best to take few weeks break and try bit slower next time.

Do whatever sounds more appealing to you, and good luck with your progress.
