Help with starting WILD.

I let the thought fly back and forth, nagging about “should I start WILD-ing or not?”.

Why start WILD:

  1. Really boosts chances of LD-ing.
  2. Start the dreams with complete lucidity.

Why not start WILD:

  1. Scary high odds of encountering all the “horrifying” stuff, like sounds, OH, etc.
  2. Requires intense concentration which I lack.

How can I start WILD-ing without freaking out whilst doing it, and without loosing focus? :help:

The way you gain concentration is through practice.
As for the fright thing, I wouldnt worry about it and just go about doing it. You know whats comming so nothing should be scary just know its not real and its all natural.

I never encountered anything horrifying during my WILD attempts. And as I repeated it so many times, if you have not the SP trouble, you’re likely to never see the Old Hag. By the way, if you feel afraid by HH, then you stop and you try another time. With experience, you’ll find this funny and not frightening at all.

And about concentration, just try, you’ll see very quickly if you have problems or not.

Trust me, WILDing’s really very fun and a great way to jump into the lucid action. I’ll admit that I’m no WILD expert, but I HAVE experienced nearly every horrifying experience, including the Old Hag and a freaky sort of “Dr. Evil-from-Austin-Powers” type of laugh. But just keep repeating to yourself “This is a dream, not reality. This is a dream, not reality.” It works for me!

As for your lack of concentration…hehe. I’ve always pictured that that’s the point of the scary “happenings”. They’ll keep you awake (and it will sometimes even reach the point where you “wake up” out of SP). It’s easy to get around

Ditto.

And about the lack of concentration, just practice it, you’ll improve each time you try.

There lies a problem I can’t solve at all: I suffer from AD/HD, screwing my ability to focus on what I want to.

For some reason I’m not scared of the old hag or whatever might happen. Quite a few times I’ve been in my bed when I’ve suddenly felt someone touching me, but I’ve never been scared when it’s happened :eh: Instead I get lucid

watching all those horror movies when I was young must have desensitised me

oh, a good way of not getting the old hag is to expect it to be someone else. Me for example, I always get some cute girl instead of the old hag, so I actually love it when it happens
