So I started a dream notebook last night and wrote down instructions for WILD because i thought it was the simplest. Well here is what happened. I relaxed, Tensed and loosened muscles, then counted. Just like the guide said. Then i felt all tight and “stiff” and what i think was the hypnagogic started popping up. it felt weird being a first timer. i was conscious but didnt know how to enter the dream. i was up till 3 AM give a lot/take a little. Was i doing it right? Any Tips on how to have sucess tonight? Which is the best and easiest. Please help me. i have a lot of tests to do.
Hey there. WILD works best after a few hours of sleep. Trying WILD right when you go to bed is really really hard.
If you usually wake up in the middle of the night, try it then! If you don’t, you can use auto suggestion to tell yourself to wake up in the middle of the night and remember to WILD.
Then it’s just practice I guess. Trying to get a balance between losing consciousness and not falling back asleep at all. Good luck
Whoah wierd I tried the same thing last night but I was sort of drifting from dream and life by thinking of what I wanted to dream about but I didn’t always stay. So I was just drifting in and out of the dream. It was really wierd but really fun when I dreamt.
I wouldn’t WILD when going to sleep, because REM is too short at that point, and it’s harder. You might want to try waking up during the night to WILD instead.
You did it the way it’s done, don’t worry about technique as much man, just relax and think about nothing but your breathing. Fill your body with light as you inhale through you nose, slowly. Exhale slowly, breathing out the light. But keep a rhythm.
Here is what happened when I attempted WILD for the first time (two nights ago).
I started WILD as soon as I got into bed. I foolishly forgot the relaxing part. I tried to listen to the tinnitus, the ‘buzzing’ sound that’s always in your ears. All was well and I went into SP and started experiencing HI . Suddenly I started having involuntary movements (spasms) all over my body, it felt as if someone was quickly squeezing my body and instantly letting go. I kept on trembling but I tried not to move. Then I experienced old hag syndrome, but I kept on concentrating on the tinnitus and I ignored the old hag. The old hag left, and suddenly my left leg went flying into the air as if I had kicked out, for no reason! Do note: I was sleeping on my back, which sometimes causes old hag. I think it was because I hadn’t relaxed.
As for your question, I think that the most important things that you must be are:
relaxed: In a good position, and that you have exercised your muscles.
sleepy: It’s better to attempt WILD when tired, otherwise it gets really boring.
Also, try listening to your tinnitus, count or/and incubate the dream.
Good luck
I use 61 point relaxation, counting up and down to 100 several times, just sort of keep yourself interested, because if you try to WILD when first going to bed, it’ll be a couple hours before you get to REM, which is why it’s better to wait until you have had a couple hours of sleep first.
