HH keeps waking me up when I try WILD

The few times I’ve actually been able to practice WILD sometimes my mind would wander to something and I don’t think about my body at all. After a few seconds of whatever I’m thinking of/visualizing I hear a loud sort of noise and it jolts me awake. One night I heard a loud crash and later after relaxing again it felt like something touched me. Others I hear a really brief noise.

Is there any advice that can help me not to be jolted awake by these things? I tried to tell myself not to freak out if I hear something, but it still surprises me. Nothing happens if I think about my body at all. I don’t think I see HI (only the black kind of shifting around under my eyelids when I close my eyes).

I’d like to someday experience a WILD since my only two LD’s were random WBTB DILD’s.

Yes, I have a bit of that problem too

Try afternoon napping instead, in use with the WILD technique

Or, concentrate on something else, let your mind wander, but to lucid dreaming, adn eventually you will be too deep in sleep to wake up from noises

Or, as I used to do as a little kid, provoke yourself into nightmares, wake up, go back to sleep and WILD

sometimes you’ll be so much about your nightmare and staying up the rest of the night, you’ll end up asleep again

It is also useful to laugh, and get yourself in a good mood

Ah, thanks. I wasn’t sure if anyone was going to post.

Okay, I don’t remember what my mind wanders to, but I’ll try to lead it to lucid dreaming more.

Nightmares? I really don’t know about that. I mean I know it’d wake me up, but the having to have one part is a little scary. I have a lot of fears. I might give it a try or two, though.

I know exactly how you feel, Karuni. I’ve failed many a WILD because of HH. The worst was about three days ago–I heard this horrible, loud screaming/buzzing noise, almost like a million mosquitoes had suddenly entered my room and were buzzing louder than human ears could take. My eyes jolted open immediately, and I was wide awake again. The way I deal with it is just to relax and remember that it’s all in your head.
