How do dreams begin?

So you are falling asleep, your conscious thinking chunks into subconscious, you get some HH of some kind, then…

you wake up if you are me.

Now, this happens for a very long time, and somehow you find that the subconscious ideas are long enough, that they put you into an alternate reality just like this one.

So how DO DREAMS START ?

Has anyone watched themselves fall asleep, all the way, and taken note how the conscious thoughts go subconscious, and how these create HI and how these create dreams, and etc?

for instance the dream characters, interpreting that they come from you, who decides, how is it decided “okay you are going to see a girl, she is going to look like this, and she is going to represent this broad range of ideas that your mind is working out…”

there must be a detailed science of studying this, no ?

The thing is that dreams and daydreaming are basically the same, only that regular dreaming is when our subconciousness is mostly on and daydreaming when our subconciousness is mostly off.
HOW DO DREAMS START?
IMO, they start from an already daydreaming thought, like a progressive thought that gets deeper and deeper into the sub-c.
But REGULAR DREAMING, imo starts when our daydreaming gets completely into the subconcious and becomes regular dreaming.

I have watch myself fall asleep once. This is what I can recall

  1. I got deeply relaxed and felt my mussels numb
  2. After a while I started to see flashing lights on the inside of my eyelids
  3. I gently morphed them together into a large smooth blob that bounced around
  4. I thought of rhythmic motions and developed them into scenery
  5. I entered a dream where I was on a stair case when all the sudden I was shot in the forehead
  6. I woke up

Note: This is extremely hard to do because you will not have the attention span to do this (trust me you don’t). I got some luck once because I was really determined.

This is what I remember from starting to fall asleep:
-Become relaxed and empty your mind from all chatter
-Start thinking about what you want to happen in your dream
-Concentrate hard on those thoughts
-Enter into the dream and go at it
-After you have completed your dream, you’ll usually wake up

But how long does it take to reach the HI’s?
