How do you know?

I’ve been close to LD two times before (I lost control shortly after I gained control of the dream) and just the other day I think I had a Lucid Dream… I remember telling my self in the dream “wow I’m having a lucid dream” but I can’t remember if I had any control… perhaps it I was just dreaming about having a lucid dream but not really having it? Anyone with similar experience? I will continue trying… next time I need to really verify that I’m having a LD…

Hi  and welcome to ld4all :content:

Yes it’s possible to have have a dream that seems like lucid dream but you aren’t lucid. Once I said “I’m dreaming” for no reason in a dream and after that I realised that I was really dreaming  They are called false LDs if you act like you are lucid but you aren’t.

If you have real LD, you don’t need to verify it.
Of course, you can do some reality checks to increase your awareness.

Hi opacic ! and welcome to ld4all !

Lucidity in dreams can be high or low. In very low level lucid dreams, you can have thoughts like this : “In a dream, it’s better to open windows”. So, you know that a dream is surrounding you, but you don’t really know that you’re dreaming the dream.
Moreover, lucidity is not correlated with control. You can experience control in ND, and LD without control.
So, you can’t measure lucidity with your control level. In this dream, you realized you were dreaming: in my opinion, it’s a LD.

Good luck for your next LD’s !

Once you’re sure you’ve had an LD, it becomes easy to tell if you were lucid or not.

Quite simply, if you knew you were dreaming, you were lucid.

Next time do a reality test to confirm it is a dream. It just sounds like you had a low level of lucidity. To highten this there many diffrent techniques, you should look on the main page here and review a couple.
