Splitted from the BIG MILD topic. I think this post deserves its own thread because it is not exactly about MILD tips.
MILD has been the best technique for me. I would like to read more examples of becoming lucid through MILD. I hope this will cause me to have more LDs from MILD. Maybe it will help others too.
Here are some examples of where after using MILD while falling asleep I became lucid:
dream I’m in meeting with my boss Gail and another woman. I ask several questions about this other woman. Then I realize Gail is retired and this must be a dream.
dream I am with my family, someone mentions not disturbing my grandmother. I realize my grandmother is dead and this must be a dream
A stranger who is playing the guitar and singing says “Hi Asclepius”. How can a stranger know my name. I realize I’m dreaming
I am helping a woman put her drunk daughter in her car. I see a 12 inch tall deer that looks like a living cartoon. I realize I’m dreaming
In very large multi-floor building going from floor to floor. At one point going up stairs quickly start flying. Realize I am dreaming
Please post examples where you used MILD and then realized you were dreaming
edit: after posting this topic, I had first LD in April
I was at the perfect beach. I asked “Why is it so beautiful?” and realized I was dreaming.
LD in May - I was outside walking in the snow, I asked myself “Why isn’t it cold?” and realized I was dreaming.
In the dream, I vaguely remembered something about doing reality checks whenever I saw my dog. This didn’t make much sense at the time, but I figured I may as well. Upon becoming lucid, I remembered my dog had been dead for months.
When using MILD I usually ended up doing a reality check, the best RC for me so far has been holding my breath or plugging my nose and realizing I can still breath.
Er, last night I realised I was dreaming five times by doing the hold-your-nose-and-breathe reality check. I kept having FAs, and whenever I successfully did the check I’d have another FA. This continued until finally I woke up IRL and couldn’t breathe through my nose when it was blocked.
I had one dream where I was floating off the ground. First I ‘thought’ - gravity is broken Then I realized I was dreaming.
In another dream I was flirting with a beautiful young woman. I looked away and when I looked back she had become a young man with a scruffy beard! I thought hey what happened Then I realized it was a dream
I am watching a baseball game that breaks into a brawl. It is so violent , I realize this must be a dream.
A DC says to me “Look at that 2 on the wall it is backwards like a dream.” I look at it and think it is backwards (but it wasn’t). I am confused. I look at it and it has become a circle O. I realize this must be a dream.
Every single time I’ve had a lucid dream, I haven’t noticed that anything was out of the usual at all. It WAS out of the usual, but I didn’t realise it.
Each time I became lucid it happened completely without warning and for no apparent reason. There I am, going about my exciting adventures (or not, as the case may be), and then BOOM. Lucid.
There seems to be no reason for it so far that I can tell…
It doesn’t matter how weird a dream I have is, I will not realise it… Half my dreams involve some sort of videogame related thing in them and I STILL don’t realise it… Breathing underwater, fighting wyverns In the middle of a city, BEING the character in an MMO… Doesn’t matter how much it bends reality, I won’t consider it being a dream…
In my only LD, I realised it by just thinking it after I had been blasted off my bed onto the floor…
What you don’t seem to consider is that the same thing happens for everybody. It’s normal that we believe that dreams are real, thus we don’t realize they are dreams, or else everybody would be lucid. Just have a look at the “What huge dreamsigns did you miss?” thread.
There must be a reason why you can’t manage to have LD’s. And I think it’s not because you feel disappointed that you have to call people who manage to have LD’s crazy.
