How do you use your DreamJournal?

Dear dreamers,

Once again I’ve decided to start practising Lucid Dreaming again. So i’ve taken my DJ of the sheft again and started writing.

But I wonder, how do other people keep their dreamjournals? So I’d like to hear about your DJ.

Questions:

  • Do you keep a written or digital Journal
  • Do you catalog dreamsigns; if yes: how?
  • Do you draw often in your DJ?
  • What make’s your DJ special?
  • What do you note when writing about a dream (f.i: date, time, title, tags, feelings, etc?)

I

I keep a written journal, and I categorize them by naming them. Usually I make the words rhyme, or make the title into an alliteration about a few main aspects of the dream, it always helps me remember them even more, and if I look back on it I can remember right away what the dream was about most times. I draw in it sometimes because sometimes I can’t find the right words to completely explain what I dreamt, or I’ll draw little details that don’t really matter much to remember more of the dream.

I write quick messy jot notes, with as much detail as I can remember. I usually use short forms or abbreviations. My dream journal is special because my mom got it for me  and it has a picture of the word dream written in the sand on a beach with a wave about to wash it away (and that’s pretty much what the journal is for; learning not to let go of or forget your dreams as soon as you wake up, because it’s usually very easy to let them get washed away.)

well, i write the date first. i even have a customizable stamp  i set it in the evening, so i don’t have to think about the date in the morning! sometimes it’s hard to remember. i usually just write out all i can remember first, since that has to be done fast. i do scribble some drawings, but very rarely - that’s only if there’s something very special i want to remember. otherwise, just reading the words later will bring back the memory of how things looked.
i don’t write down my dream signs, cause pretty much all of my dream is the dream sign  lol
my DJ is written, of course. since when i get up, i need to write my dream without getting out of bed (otherwise i might forget). also i don’t use a digital one, since sometimes i will want to write down a dream in the middle of the night, and switching the PC on would wake other family members, also it might not let me go to sleep later (because of the bright screen… to awake).
my DJ is special because it’s pretty  i searched for a few days for my new one. it just has to be ‘right’
oh, and the way i write my dreams is just like a story. the way you’d tell it to a friend.
