I was wondering because i recently had a dream where i was taking exams. However i had in ‘real’ life taken these ages ago. So i thought to myself i was dreaming, and tried to proove it by flying, but i couldnt fly.
The reason ive asked that question is because wen i was trying to fly it just seemed like a dream, and i didnt seem like i had control.
Throughout the dream i was trying to convince myself and other ppl i was dreaming but i kept telling myself it was a real. When you realise you are dreaming do u suddenly jsut become lucid or do u have to do something??
It is all explained in the site, I belive in the how area. However, I’ll answer your question:
A) High-level LDs feel as real as RL if not even realler. It’s hard to explain, but when your in a high-level LD everything is sharp, and you feel every single thing - even a slight gust of wind (at least for me).
B) Yes, you do have to do something. If your in a LD and everything is kind of blurry and out of control, you can rub your hands together, spin around on the spot or scream “Increase lucidity!”. These are all techniques to change a low-level LD into a high-level one.
Hope this answers your questions!
Why do these techniques work? Is it because you are doing something active and it stops you just going back to normal sleep?
Well, the hand rubbing thing is based on the fact that you ‘feel’ something, so it makes you more lucid… Theres the old saying ‘Pinch me, I must be dreaming’ so its kinda like that. The spinning thing works on the same principle but isntead of working on the Touch sense, you work on the Sight sense.
Understood?
Yup, understood
thanks!
So I guess doing anything that affects your senses will increase lucidity (which is why shouting “increase lucidity!” works). You could slap yourself round the face, or bite your tongue or something.
