When given advice about lucid dreams, people tell me to make sure you are actually dreaming. So does that mean that lucid dreams feel so real that you can confuse them with reality?
And no, I never had a lucid dream before =/
Well, no … thats not the reason why you think its real , its just the fact that your mind when you are always dreaming normal thinks it is in the waking state and therefore mistakes the things it sees for real , i have had quite hazy dreams in which i still thought it was real life … Lucid dreams can be VERY realistic if your conciousness is trained to it and your fantasy has the sufficient strength …

It all depends on your ability to dream. I mean, like Sakoda said, the dreams can be very hazy or in extreme detail and yet you still treat the dream like real life. I think you could increase the realisticness in an LD though…
Welcome to the forums, here, have a cookie
What the above people said it true in itself. But dreams are also VERY often so realistic that you do mistake them for reality. Probably because when you think about it, for instance. “in reality a glass of water looks like this” the nyou remember, and the glass of water in a dream looks like what you remember. So when you are determining whether you are dreaming, you are using the only reference you have, which is your memory. And dreams are perfectly capable of living up to almost everything you remember about the world. Some expections exist. Dreams are unstable, and this is a major flaw in realism.
So yes. you can confuse dreams with reality, they can be that realistic, but are not always.
its depends in your mind, like everyone on the thread says dreams can be hazy but at the same time they feel so real, my first lucid dream It felt more realer thats fo sho!!
Stable lucid dreams in a realistic environment can be extremely confusing. But not all LDs are like that.
The reason you have to make sure you are dreaming however isn’t related so much to realism of perceptions as it is to “dream-logic”, which might convince you you are awake even if you are not. In this case you will not even experience a lack of realism as remarkable.
No.
Lucid dreaming is simply knowing that you are having a dream. So you cannot confuse a lucid dream with reality, because you have already become aware that you are dreaming and thus are lucid.
I find that once I become lucid, certain things become more realistic, unless I comand them otherwise.
I also find that normally the dreams are crisp and clear, more so than IRL. If it is otherwise, it normally means my dream is unstable and I’m about to wake up.
Also, normally I don’t have to do many RC’s once I realize it’s a dream because there is a very distinctive “tingly” sensation I get all over, which I never expierience IRL.
Hope that aswered some questions.
Sometimes i can be lucid and almost mistake it for real life. Sometimes to make sure i’m in control, i will say “this is a dream” or something to that effect. Being able to say that makes me more confident it is, in fact, a dream.
There’s actually a way to make dreams or ld more realistic;
dreaming is the same as daydreaming or imagining something,
So,
what do i have to do to make thoughts or daydreaming more real?
simple,
just FOCUS, train your focusing while daydreaming, thinking etc.
I think that if you train yourself at focusing IRL, you can actually make lds more
appealing visually.
In other words, Image Streaming. That is the best way to increase visuals in dreams, and imagination. If you want to have better sound in dreams, pay attention to any and all sounds you encounter during the day.
Think about it like this. If you’re experienced enough with life to be able to notice that something is wrong, you’re experienced enough to make it seem right. So you should really do reality checks. It’s very probable that your dream world can closely resemble the real world. It’s also very probable that your dream world looks like a cartoon.
