I am noticing that my main dreamsign(s) is watching/being in a fight or watching/being in a high action scenario.
The main way to confirm that you are dreaming is to do a reality check.
If I stop fighting and try to do a reality check but I am actually in a real fight (and not dreaming), I would propably get beaten up.
Anyone know of any reality checks that can be done while fighting that doesn’t expose you to being beaten up in real life?
variation of the finger through palm? expect your fist/hand to go through them
expect something weird to happen (say what you expect in your mind) … and if it happens it’s a dream
In addition to the ones moogle suggested you could also try logic checking the reason why you are fighting, and the events that lead up to it. Although that might distract you a little. It would also only work if your fights in your dreams often seem to be for weird reasons.
A lot of fights IRL would be for weird reasons, though… Sometimes you get in a fight just for looking at the person you’re fighting with. Not even in a bad way, just a glance in their direction could get you in a fight.
You could, however, hold your hand up to the person you’re fighting with, and say “Hold on a sec, I have to do something.”
If it works, it’s a dream.
If you do get hit somewhen in the fight, and it hurts, you are dreaming.
If you are losing, its probably a dream as well.
Or at least you hope it’s a dream…
I don’t see much sense in that one. When I fight IRL I don’t feel much pain, because of adrenaline, but I also don’t feel much pain when I fight in a dream.
I dunno… It just seems to hard to do an RC in a fight. Maybe you could try willing the person to stop, and make yourself believe you have full control. If he does stop, then it’s a dream. Other than that, I have no idea.
Do you actually get in fights often in real life? If not, just noticing you’re fighting should be enough to confirm that you’re dreaming. If you do get in fights and that isn’t enough, you could just try multitasking, and count the fingers of one hand while you’re punching the enemy with your other hand, or something like that.
lol try to do some gay crap like a fire punch or something else completely stupid.
variation of the finger through palm seems like a good one
I am most likely re-fighting a scene from a film (so the reason is known & obvious to me during the dream) – it should be a dream sign (being in a scene from a film you have watched) but fighting doesn’t give you enough time to think.
When fighting, I feel no pain (adrenalin has a very strong effect on me) – In real life, I have come out of fights with bumps & bruises while not knowing I had them till someone told me or I see them in a mirror.
I rarely get into fights in real life (except for jujitsu sparring classes) which is why this should be my main dream sign. But the risk of stopping fighting to do a reality check or to try to fly away is too high unless the reality check that I perform can actually be performed in the fight while in close combat fighting.
A real fight is dangerous, so it is probably not a good idea to even do a RC. But sometimes you just realize you’re dreaming because it is so unusual or crazy. I have noticed in dreams in which I am fighting, I often find it hard to move. Or I can’t punch hard, like I don’t have energy.
I think the way to realise you’re dreaming in a fight is to prepare in real life, by normal means. Also, there is always a before and after when it comes to fights. You could learn to always think critically if you feel threatened. and also after a fight you can do RCs.
Ofcourse if you wake up during the fight it won’t work.
If you don’t get into fights much IRL then you could come to realize this automatically when dreaming. RCs are not always necessary.
I would say when you get hit pay attention to what the pain feels like or if there’s any at all. I’ve experienced “dream pain” before, usually in falling dreams when I hit the ground but it never feels real. If it doesn’t feel real it’s probably a dream and therefore you don’t have to worry about getting hit and you can take a second to do an RC of your choice and then fly away.
