How to make lucid dreaming easier or how to get better at it

moved from lucid adventures to quest :moogle:

I have had only one lucid dream in this past week and it was the first time I had started studying it. Now I just get frustrated because I either can’t dream or I wont g lucid at the most obvious of times to go lucid i.e. just last night I had a dream where I was at the Oscars and I was watching an excerpt (my whole dream was the excerpt) of a movie that was sad and Coheed and Cambria was playing in it (an alternative metal band) and I still had no clue that I was dreaming. please help!

First off, this is something that could happen in real life, so it would be hard to catch something like this while you are asleep. To do what you are implying takes most people years to master. When you are dreaming, you have the common sense of a two year old. That is why the majority of people try to do what they want in dreams. It is not uncommon for you to miss these sorts of things. In order to have complete control, you must age from that 2 year old up to an adult. That is not an overnight thing. (pun not intended! )

Well, I suggest to you also that you try different methods and that doesn’t mean just when you are asleep. I mean try different things before you go to sleep to help calm your mental state and become more relaxed. That is a must have if you want to try a WILD. Also, WBTB is a nice technique for beginners. It is a simple technique that catches you in your REM state. All you really have to do then is stay aware for maybe 5-8 minutes before you doze off again. Then you MAY have a LD.

When I LD, I just decide to the night before in bed. It allways works for me as long as I don’t doubt myself. I have had a LD nearly every day this week by doing this.

I have the same problem sometimes. There were a few nights when I missed some really clear dreamsigns…
I just can’t seem to have a good LD, it’s strange.
Oh, and I LOVE COHEED AND CAMBRIA. xD
Dream King, how do you manage to not doubt yourself that way? I’ve tried it, and it doesn’t work, so obviously I’m not trusting in myself enough.

Yes, but this is something that it takes most a few years for most people to master, if at all. Having complete control is very rare. Good for you.

I know it might be hard, but try not to get to frustrated when you don’t get a LD. The feeling of frustration, for me at least, can really help you stay without LD’s

please don’t speak in such a way I find it counterproductive. The main obstacle to complete control is doubt.

And you are saying that it isn’t extremely rare to do this? If someone is going to doubt themselves, the last thing they would be worried about is a person on a computer who they do not even know named tyrael’s opinion. Doubt comes from a persons own beliefs. If my opinion of how rare this is can effect them, then they have no chance to have no doubt in the first place.

tyrael-where did you read that you have a common sense of a 2 year old in a dream?sounds interesting

OT: yes, you shouldn’t doubt yourself. You probably won’t be able to do it while doubting yourself.Your intention should be STRONG, like:’‘Enough of this!I’m gonna have a lucid dream!today!just when I fall asleep!’’
Don’t ever say:’‘If i’m going to have a lucid dream…’’, say ‘‘I AM going to have a lucid dream…’’

I think all of my LDs were induced this way.No techniques, just convincing yourself.
