Hi friends,
Once i attain lucidity, by method of time extension, I plan to undertake various activities and explore my mind and body. My question is how to remember to do a certain activity in a dream once we become conscious of our dream? For ex: I sleep the previous night thinking that i should iron my shirts the next day in the morning, go to sleep and wake up the next day and i automatically remember to iron clothes. Is this the same way even in the dream, like, once we become conscious in a dream, all conscious thoughts that u had before sleeping gets automatically transferred to your dreaming mind, and we start thinking like we do in RL, or is it that requires strenouous efforts to remember to do things in a dream?
I think it depends. In lucid dreams I find I’m very easily distracted.
My advice (no expert at all) is that you should stay lucid during your dream, once you mastered that you should explore more. I think that if you try to recall what to do you will just lose your lucidity. GL!
Actually trying to recall goals can be a great way to maintain lucidity. I find without goals I tend to wander aimlessly in dreams, but when I have a goal to follow I usually can keep the dream going longer and I do what I want. This is why I always encourage people to try the Lucidity Challenge and Monthly Quest.
I don’t know, I never had that problem… If I had proper lucidity then I knew that this is a dream and if I had a goal I knew what I want to do… Maybe your problem was in level of lucidity, maybe you’re not lucid enough to get that feeling. Many times I’m like: “wow this a dream but everything looks so real, look at that it’s just like WL… I was thinking about that and that in WL and I should do this…”
Or try to more focus on your goal before bed, maybe it will keep you more aware just like ironing your shirts, obviously they had bigger importance level then your lucid goal, if you understand what I’m saying. Shirts were on your must to do list, your goal was maybe on should to do list…
Maybe I’m totally wrong but that’s my impression of your problem… Good luck!
That doesn’t happen with WILDs and DEILDs, however, I used to have that problem with DILDs, I would spend several seconds to remember what I had planned, but I still could recall the plan.
In order to avoid the waste of time, I learned to create mantras (for MILD) that involve the intended plan.
I’ve also created a technique of LD Simulation, where I would simulate the first steps on what I should do first in the next LD with optimal control.
Before you go to sleep, go over your dream goals. I’d recommend picking only one or two, so you remember them and aren’t overwhelmed. Then, if you become lucid, you’ll probably remember the goals you set aside before dreaming.
