I Become afraid of the dark...

Yeah I used to be like that too, too scared to WILD. After I heard about OH I just tried to go to sleep as fast as possible, not caring about LDing or anything. If you ask me, you have two choices.
Either sleep with your light/music on (in the beginning I played feng shui music while going to sleep, it helped a lot) OR just ignore the fear. Just ignore it. What’s the worst thing that can happen? There’s nothing in the dark that isn’t there in the light. Nowdays I just do that. Whenever I get scared I just tell myself “whatever, I don’t care if something scary happens” and just shrug it off. I know it’s easier to say than to do, but for me it was like, once I found that “whatever” kind of feeling all those fears went away.

Dream on. // Olesia

Never be afraid to lucid dream because it can be just too wonderful to fear. Like life there is always the chance and the negative things that happen but think of all the beautiful experiences you can have while LDing  It’s worth it!

Thanks for the advice, ill try to listen to music first... I dont want to face my fear yet!

You have nothing to fear if you remember that a lucid dream offers more than any drug or man-made device can ever give you. You have complete control over everything.

I know exactly what you’re talking about; for whatever reason, we have a part of our brain that seems to enjoy conjuring up images that we don’t want to think about, especially ones that frighten us. I’ve had many experiences similar to the ones you’re talking about, in which I kept thinking about the things I was trying hardest not to contemplate. It’s pretty awful.

Unfortunately, though, I haven’t found a better remedy then to wait, usually for a month or two. Fortunately, this always seems to work. After a while, your brain loses its fixation on whatever topic was disturbing you, and it stops coming up and making things difficult for you.

All this takes is patience and a bit of will, which I’m sure you can muster. Take heart in the fact that nothing lasts forever, no matter how bad. May fear no longer hold you captive! :content:

Just face it it’s just the dark, if somethings in there its going to kill you anyway why bother fearing it  I use it to my advantage now a days, its amazing the fucked up images and creatures i can think up close to sleep, I usually draw them later

After I heard about OH I got a bit scared too. However, that passed after about four or five nights. I just try to think aout more pleasent things. I do have one religous friend that likes lucid dreaming, she says that she prayes when she gets scared. shrug

…OR you could just fight back…WITH INSULTS!

That’s because your brain doesn’t deal with negatives.

Test it if you want:

Say to yourself “Don’t think about a purple neon cat!”

I think I can guess what you are thinking right now

Success!!

If I’m ever feeling sketchy about my surroundings I turn on the light look around and most importantly LOCK my door so that way if I hear any sounds I can just reassure my self that its all in my head, and then I really have nothing to fear!

Well, I actually tell myself, that i’ll hit whatever it is in the face, no matter what powers it has. That suprisingly always works for me. I imagine beating the old hag into pieces. A little old demon woman, and a full sized grown man. WAM WAM WHAM!!!

OH are the bad trips of Lucid Dreaming, dude. With Set and Setting you can avoid it  leave your light slightly on and the tv or music running at low volume.

OH is only the ‘bad trip’ if you make it so.

I had my first OH/SP the other day and realised the OH was my sister (in the dream) so i just laughed at her .

(…Even though she then proceeded to throw me in the freezer)

I have the same problem, but I also have another problem. When I am trying to do WILD, I have urges to swallow the spit that is gathering inside of my mouth. If I swallow it, will this prevent the WILD thing to happen? Will it wake me up?

I had the same problem when I first began trying WILD. I beleive it’s just a noob problem because after about 8 tries at WILD I noticed that I did’nt have to swallow anymore.
(Of course the moment I think about swallowing while WILDing I find that I have to. :content: )

I don’t think the swallowing will hurt your chances of WILDing early on, but after you start feeling vibrations and SP, even the slightest movement will ruin the whole thing. So if you don’t think about it, you should’nt have to swallow.

Yeah, I started feeling a vibration, when I heard my mother come upstairs and I lost concentration. I guess I was close.

You were close, just keep it up and practice around 3 times a day for a week, then take a week off and so on and so on. And don’t get discouraged if you don’t do it right off the bat. Remember, it’s got to work sooner or later, just keep practicing and it will likely be sooner.

I just do not belive in this “Old Hag” stuff. I never read anything about this. Okay, I read about Sleep Paralysis and that, if you do not know this state, you can have nightmares and hallucinations.

But that “Old Hag”? Never heard of him before I got to this forum. I am also member of a german LD-forum (https://www.klartraum.de) and there never heard of something similar.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis
People see diferent things acordingly to the culture, i’ve never seen the hag because I try to close my eyes. But I had they feeling of being touched in the arm, preassure in chest. But my imagination takes me to some kind of creature with hairs (dunno why), hard old face.

Does anyone know how to induce nightmares?

Sorry if this is the wring place to post–I didn’t want to start a new thread for a simple question .

First, it’s better to start a new thread than asking an out of topic question.
Second, before asking a question, you should search the forum to see if it has already been asked. For instance, by searching, “induce” and “nightmare”, I found this:
How can I induce a nightmare?
