I become aware I'm dreaming, but don't get the experience

Hmm… basically, I can always remember what dreams I’ve had, and sometimes, I will realise that I’m dreaming.

But it doesn’t seem to get me in the state described on this site… I can’t make crazy things happen and experience them vividly, because the fact that I know I’m just dreaming, means that I also know anything I make myself see is just imagination.

… if that makes any sense

So what I’m saying is, it doesn’t feel like things are actually happening to me, it feels more like a daydream, only I’m still asleep and can actually see my dream.

And on other occasions, even though I’ve realised I’m dreaming, I’m still not really consciously in control of my actions. I just run around in the dream screaming “hey everybody this is all a dream!” because I feel compelled to.

Sooo I suppose my question is, can most people get the intense experiences just by realising it’s a dream, or is there more to it?

Dont expect strange things to happen to you. You must belive yourself that you can fly, kill hordes of giant saucepans with one blast from your finger, walk through a mirror and end up in space.
and such

ah… I guess it’s not going to happen for me then. As soon as I realise it’s a dream I just think “it’s not real, wakey time”

well then do those mundane but wildly entertaining stuff that you’d like to do in life but can’t… just don’t worry about if it’s real or not just go with the flow and try your best to suspend belief (do you watch horror movies with this attitude?) if you can just go with the flow i bet you’ll have better lucid dreams

Hmm well I can visualise the things, just not feel like it’s actually happening to me. Watching a horror movie can be scary but I don’t start feeling cold if it’s cold in the movie, that’s kinda what I mean.

I think perhaps you are becoming lucid in dreams that are not very vivid at all to begin with.

lopaz, most people can not get the intense experiences just by realising it’s a dream. Some people can, but most have to learn how to control their LD’s.
You have to learn to use the chance to do what you want to do. You have been dreaming all your life. In that time you have come to see your dreams in a specific way. That is why you do the things that you do in the dreams. What you need to do now, is learn/teach yourself different things that you can do in the dreams. It can take a while, but since you are already becoming lucid, you should be able to learn to do anything that you want without too much trouble. Becoming lucid is where most people have the most problems, but it is also not uncommon for people to have the type of problem you are having.
