I can think in dreams,but can't control them...

Hi, Newbie here so be nice lol!! I just found out what an LD was yesterday, and the whole thing facinates me. Anyway, for as long as I can remember, I’ve had these dreams where I suddenly think to myself “Hey, I’m in a dream.” I can think to myself (like when you think during the day) but the dream isn’t any different to a normal one, other than that. It doesn’t feel like I’m in the dream, the colours or objects aren’t any more vivid and I can’t control myself. The only difference is that I’m thinking to myself. Do you think there is anyway I can turn this into a LD?

Also, about once a week, just as I’m drifting to sleep, I can feel my head spinning and I can see a swirly, colourful pattern infront of my closed eyes. I am still half awake but just seconds away from being fully asleep. Do you think there is a way I could turn this into WILD? I’d love to here your help and advice!

Also, wish me luck for tonight. I’m gonna have my first try at LDing. I don’t expect it to work on my first try but you never know! I always remember at least 1 dream a night so hopefully that’ll help. I normally wake up at about 3am for a few minutes so I’m gonna try MILD when I go to bed, and then WILD when I wake up.

Good luck for tonight Hon But I have to say; if you approach this thinking that it probably wont work, then it probably wont work. :cool: You have to have absolute conviction that it will work and you will be writting about your first controlled LD tomorrow morning. :thumbs: You’ll do it.

Well. Usually thinking isn’t enough. If you notice you are dreaming, it won’t help. You have to realize it. You have to do a RC. Do plenty of Reality Checks during the day so that the RCs will get memorized into your subconcious.

So when you think you are dreaming, you could try and tell your character to do a RC. And after you notice, that the RC shows you are dreaming, you will probarly become lucid. :happy:

Well. I’ve had this too during a relaxing exercise. It definetly shows that you are starting to fall asleep. You could turn this probarly to a WILD by relaxing your body and staying awake. But WILD is usually good to use in combination with WTBT.

If you think “Hey, I’m dreaming”, you are lucid! But you have to really realize it, otherwise you might just be dreaming you are thinking that. Next time you find yourself thinking this in a dream, try to expand the thought, like “Hey, I’m dreaming… so I can do whatever I want!” or something.

And believing plays a major role in LD! So try to truely believe you will have a LD tonight and that will help you a lot. Some people have LD’s on their first try, others don’t… So you just might! :grin:

There are different levels of lucidity. I distinguish between different types in my LD count (to the left, in my info). The ‘ONE’ represents the clearest dream I’ve had (using WILD), with full control, then the small written number represent dreams where I’ve realised I’m dreaming during the dream, but they’re mostly like yours; I knew I was dreaming, but I wasn’t quite thinking write and had virtually no control. The last number represents high lucidity dreams that I couldn’t keep hold of, and woke up.

To do WILD just count and keep on counting, concentrating just on the counting, something like ‘1 - I’m dreaming - 2 - I’m dreaming - 3…’. WILD gives the best results in my oppinion, as you get the very highest lucidity. You’ll have to feel a little sleepy to do WILD. I’ve tried it when I haven’t ben at all sleepy and ended up counting all night. It’s best to do it in the morning like you said you’re going to. One more thing, make sure you do a bit of research on what sleep paralysis and Hypnogogic hallucinations are like. If they come unexpected and you don’t know what they are, they will certainly panic you and thwart your attempt. They can seem scary but it’s all normal, safe, and harmless.

ive had that same thing happen to me and i am somewhat new here 2 but i was reading the posts that the others put on and i think ill try it tonight i have been trying to use magic for the longest time and i was thinking hey im dreaming and i want to summon ice cream i even vizualized it but i couldnt do it and now i know why so ill try it tonight and ill see if it works and post u tommarow

best method do wbtb , wild its just waste of time for me , but happens the same thing to me I do RC an still fail to realize Im on a dream, indeed your brain can be so powerful if u out ya mind 2 it, good luck
