It is my 3rd day of trying to have an LD. I can only remember a tiny bit of my dreams. I’ve been trying to LD but my problem is that I can’t control myself in my dreams so I can’t do a RC. I do RC in the Waking world every hour or less. Before I go to bed I say when I wake up I will remember my dream ect ect. I want a LD so bad I’ve been sleeping 2-3 times per day . Can you give me some tips on LD’ing. It’s like I can’t even THINK in my dream. Like in my most recent dream, I was playing a mario-sonic game and I was the character (3rd person) but how was I supposed to think that was a dream…it could have been real life . I don’t know what to do, please give me tips.
These things can take time, and sometimes you can try too hard. Are you keeping a dream journal? I would suggest returning to your normal sleep schedule. Whenever you wake up, lie still for a couple minutes and try to remember your dreams, then write them down no matter how fragmented or nonsensical they are. You’ll most likely notice your dream recall increasing over time, both in details and number of dreams. However, it can take weeks or even months of doing this to get a lucid dream, so don’t get discouraged! Instead, enjoy the craziness of the normal dreams you have, and don’t get frustrated that your dream self seems rather clueless in retrospect. Continue practicing RCs when awake and MILD before going to bed - and keep us at LD4all up to date on your progress!
Cave of Mind hit the nail right on the head. First a dream journal is one of the biggest boosters out there. You should notice a large increase in dream recall after just a few nights, sometimes even on the first night. Another thing that was mentioned is patience. As stated in can take months (and in my case over a year) to have your first lucid dream. Of course, you can also have one within a few days, it depends on the person. The trick is to not get discouraged and keep telling yourself you can do it.
Last thing to note, don’t discard your normal dreams as junk or as worthless. In my case this has always sent a subconscious message that lowers my dream recall a great deal and makes it harder to realize I am dreaming. Think of normal dreams as an adventure, something to look forward too. Then just consider Lucid Dreams the frosting to top the cake.
Good luck, I hope you get some lucid dreams soon, and choose to share them with us when you do.
I couldn’t agree more I forget this every once in a while and start focusing too hard on LD’s. My LD’s and DR fall. As soon as I start looking forward to having ND’s as well as LD’s everything goes up again! (if you think about it, and if you expect it, ND’s can be extremely fun as well )
