Hi, I’ve come accross this site and although I knew that people tried to control their dreams I didn’t realise that other people weren’t aware they were dreaming. I’ve nearly always known I was dreaming and in the last few years have been able to control my dreams. I never had to learn how to do this as such, how many people can do it naturally?
Not many. Probably less than 5% of people.
Really? Wow. I never realised it was unusual so this is all very interesting for me. Is there anyone else here who can do it without trying?
yeah, most of us have to practice a lot to be able to lucid dream, I’m jealous of you
It’s odd, sometimes I do it more than others, do you find that some dreams are more controlable than others? I almost always know it’s a dream and can control the direction of the dream. If I put more effort in I can change specific things and I think I could do this in most dreams but some dreams don’t seem to want to be changed in this way. It’s hard to explain…
its weird sometimes i dont even try to be lucid dreaming and at those times when i sleep, i just sort of in the dream realise im in a dream, i just do. When i try, i never get lucid.
Cat: Very few people are naturals. Most people have one or two (or perhaps more… I know I use to get lucid quite easily in nightmares whilst I was younger, though I just woke myself up).
Anyway, read around here and you’ll be able to develop your skills. A lot of LD’ers can have absolute control - they control everything in the dream.
The dreams you couldn’t cahnge weren’t because of the dreams - it was because you had a lower level of lucidity. Everyone who LD’s expereinces this, so we know what you’re talking about .
As you’re a natural, you’ll probably be use to a low level of lucidity. Next time you’re lucid, try increasing you’re lucidity (there’s a number of ways to do this) and you’ll be amazed.
LD’s can feel exactly like real life with the ability to do anything you wish.
Dino: yeah, that happens. It’s because repressed thoughts have an easier time getting into our dreams than often thought about things.
Hmm… thinks
Anyway, I’m glad you joined us here at LD4All, Cat. I’m far from being a natural, though if I’d heard about LDing when I was younger I’m sure I would be better at it today. It seems that the older you get the more difficult it becomes, as more and more everyday things keep dreaming from being so important. So yah, I’m jealous
Also, if you’re looking for new things to try in your LDs, there are various “Favorite things to do” posts that you can check out. See you 'round.

Did you find a specific characteristic in the dreams that “don’t want to be changes” ? Are they more realistic ? Or do you experience a particular state of mind in them ?
