I have not dreamed in 10 days

This is one of the most frustrating things ever. I finished my exam, I have no pressing matters to deal with, yet I do my regular evening routine, go to sleep, and my brain just shuts off. I remember absolutely nothing from between the time I went to bed and the time I get up.

How do you cope with a inexplicable dry spell?

Picture yourself on a banana shaped boat heading out to a dreamy island before you go to bed. Seriously, I dunno what I’m talking about but just go with it. lol

Doing a dream journal right now might not work at the moment. Perhaps you could do what hamedos talking about…it looks like a good idea. You could also try and do Autosuggestion saying "I will remember my dreams tonight’

Perhaps this is a result of stressrelief. I’m just theorising here but, imagine you are so relieved that you fall asleep and just sleep like a log. More deeply than normal, therefore with less consciousness. It think Deepak Chopra said that if we really sleep well, we don’t remember our dreams. At least, it’s more restful sleep. Perhaps that’s what you need, and also what you get.

I have a similar problem. I am trying to improve dream recall in order to learn to lucid dream but I remembered some for about 2 days in a row and then none after that. However, yesterday (this will make sense by the end of the post) I looked in the freezer for an ice cream, and there were two left, although I was expecting there to be only one left because I remembered eating one. As soon as I thought back to the time I actually ate it I started remembering that I ate the ice cream in a really weird way and the room was dimly lit. In short, I had actually dreamed that I ate an ice cream. Moral of the story, you may not remember your dreams as soon as you wake up but they are still there, so try finding something that you can do to train your subconscious to remember dreams, such as drinking a glass of water whenever you remember a dream, so that eventually your mind will associate drinking water with dream recall (for me simply keeping a dream journal does the trick, but I make sure I keep the paper in the same place and I use a specific pen to do it)

Get to sleep earlier? Then you will have more sleep, more REM sleep, and mor edreams. Try doing WBTB.

Everyone has these dry periods in which you can’t remember any dreams at all.

What you need to do is clear your mind, mostly from the thoughts about your dream recall- Cause, the more you focus on it, the longer it will take b4 you get it back.

Go to bed a bit earlier than usual and make sure you get the sleep you need. Go to bed an hour earlier than usual and try to wake up a bit later, and you’ll see that your recall is back in notime.

A good thing about these dry periods is that when you get your DR back, it’s much better than before.

You usually remember dreams you wake up from. Try setting at alarm for like, 4:00am, and see if you remember anything. We have like six dreams a night, regardless of whether we recell them or not. Anyway, hope that helps.

Remember - You ARE dreaming, you always are. Your just not recalling them

So, if I was hooked up to some sort of brain monitor, it would show activity concurrent with dreams even if I’m not aware of it and don’t remember it?

yea, for sure, you ALWAYS dream, otherwise you’ll go crazy(strange thing to say lol, loads of people consider people that think about dreams are already crazy XD)

10 days? Well, be grateful you don’t get the dry spells I do. I have gone for about 2 or 3 months at a time without remembering dreams.

Anyway, I have no ideas. If I had a method that worked to bring recall back, I’d be posting in my DJ every day, rather than twice a month…

But this topic just reminded me to post the dream I remembered from last night! YAY!

you have dreamed, you just don’t remember them. Try this technique:

Say you wake up during the night or in the morning, don’t move a muscle, just lie there and you should remember at least one of your dreams.

I remembered one from 2 nights ago. All I recalled of it was the fact that I had really long, heavy hair - no underlying message or dream plot to speak of. But, at least now I know that there’s nothing wrong with my brain that wasn’t wrong the whole time.

If it makes you feel any better, I had a 5 day dry spell. Now I was able to recall 3 dreams 2 night in a row. :content: Oh and get this, those two times were my first of ever recalling 3 dreams in a night.

the best i’ve done is 5 in one night
xx.

wake you self up at a differnt time, dont sleep for ages and cause rem rebound. drink agreat deal and cause rem rebound, read and think about lucid dreaming all the time, force your sub conscius to think about it. Go to sleep 1 hour later or sooner then normal.

Forget about it for a day and come back to it.

realise its all in your head and push through the mental blocks that are stopping you from remembering.

Use WB2B methods with WILD, fous on your DJ, go dream fishing, talk to people about dreams it will re spark the dream in your mind.

Sit there and day dream about what you could have dreamed it will spark memories and cause you to have more lucid dreams if you day dream about lucid dreams,

Dont stress relax some more, but also give your self a reward for finishing your exams, and then expand on that reward and say that you will indulge your self to alucid dream as well because of this. Pretend you are lucid.

watch your diet, it can great effect dream recall, try a small dose of coffee before you go to sleep it will cause you to have a lighter sleep then normal and hence give you a a chance to recall your dreams.

Have an afternoon nap to reset your self.

Use brainwave entertainment to put your self into Theta with a sharp snap into beta, use the Theta session to day dream and relax think about lucid dreaming, when you hit into beta you will be forced awake, use this time as training to think “after i have a lucid dream i will awake with full recall.” I write you a track if you like, as long as you dont suffer from any eposides that is.

Have peperment tea and stick to some cheases before bed as well, and banannas they all help with recall as they can help you have a lighter sleep and also they prevoke some crazy dreams,

Try and install dreams before you dream , and you will dream about it, hopefully, and more likely wake up and remember it.

If i have repeated any of the above, sorry, i havent read it yet i have to rush just thought i would post on you first. Lucky you

Good luck

Forgive my spelling major rush will check up later

IMHO , you just dindnt REMEBER you were dreaming … just my thoughts …

I recalled a little bit of last night’s dream too. There was a girl and we were in a car and then a drugstore. That’s about it.
