I’ve been trying to have an LD for 4 days and I finally did it
I knew i was dreaming from the begining, but i didn’t fully control the dream. I didn’t see people as dream caracters, i just thought they were real but they wouldn’t remember anything when i woke up. Also, we had to pay for the milkshakes but that wasn’t a problem (i just imagined that my friend had the money!)
I want to increase lucidity and be able to control everything, without waking up so easily, can you help me?
A first LD after 4 days? Waw! It’s a very good result! Congrats!
To increase lucidity, you have many methods: you can shout “More lucidity!”, you can perform reality tests, like stretching your finger, putting your finger through a wall or your other palm (even if you already know you’re dreaming, it may enhance your lucidity), you can perform simple arithmetics, etc.
About controlling there is not really a good method, I’m afraid. When you’re more lucid, if you fully realize it’s your dream, you have more chances to get a better control. Experience helps too.
On the LD4all main page, click the yellow “How” button and read the chapter “Lucid nutrition”. It’s said it may help LD’ing.
To become more lucid, it’s a good idea to concentrate on a stationary focal object in the dream world. This way, you can immerse yourself more deeply in the world and make it more realistic. I also use the method mentioned by Basilus West where you think or shout lucidity now.
On the controlling front, along with practice to get better, one other thing you can do is to look away while imagining what you want to change and expect it to have changed when you look back. It’s a lot harder and requires much more belief to make something change/appear/disappear when you’re staring straight at it, so look away and expect the result when you look back.
This is also a good method when you expect something to be behind a door or round a corner.
Hope this post helped, if you need any more help, please feel free to send me a PM
congrats on the LD were you using a technique? Controll comes from belief in a lucid dream if you know you can fly then you can fly but if you doubt you are probably going to fall like a rock. belief comes from experince I would say the more you are used to the dream state then its doesnt take as much mind bending to realize you can fly or teleport or. . . . you get the point
I used WBTB and MILD, they are the easiest ones! I can’t have a WILD though…
I’ve had 6 LDs since my first one and yestarday my LD was weirder than ever! It felt sooo real and it lasted longer than usualy. I could teleport (the spinning way), move objects with my mind, make people dissapear, levitate and more… it was the first time I could think, like IRL!!
In my previous LD I grew wings and flew, it was cool , but I couldn’t actualy think.
ah that’s the case for most of my lucid dreams , I think ill call them psuedo-lucid dreams where your dreaming you are in a lucid dream but not exactly in one ,
Anyway congratiolations on it! I’ sure you will have a clearer dream in the next few days if your thinking about it alot
I got one the first night, but it only lasted for a few seconds, so that doesn’t count!!
Can some1 help me? I don’t know how to get a new avatar. I’ve found one I like but it’s from another site…
Why wouldn’t it count? It was a LD even if it was short.
Your second question should have been posted in the Helpdesk but as it’s your own thread, it’s not so grave indeed. I think you can find answers in the Helpdesk too.
The best is to copy the image you want for an avatar on your PC then to upload it on a free image hosting website like ImageShack. When you have uploaded it, it gives you an URL that you can use it in your profile. Just copy this URL into the “Link to off-site Avatar” box and update your profile.
Congratulations, getting a LD so soon is really something. Perhaps you are a natural and will get them often with only mild effort. Everything should get easier with experience
Like Rob said, focusing on an object may make the dreamworld clearer. It can be a point on the wall, your hand, or the ground around your feet. About believeing that the DC are real people; I tend to do this too. Did it more often in the beginning, but still happens.
When it comes to your own mind and being in control, all I can say is that control varies. Sometimes I will be very clear in my thinking, just like when I am awake. But often I am more unclear, and have problems thinking straight and focusing on what I want. I think you could try thinking of some different math problems to increase the function of your mind, but maybe somebody has figured out a better way lately?
Anyway, you seem to be doing great! It took me a while to get past the waking up at once because I got so excited when I realised I was dreaming, but I usually manage to supress that feeling now. You have done in days what many struggle for months to achieve! Hope you realize how lucky you are
I haven’t really tried that technique a lot, but I the one time I did try it is actually mentioned in my dream diary here at the forum, wrote it this week:
“The dream is a bit unclear, so I scream “lucidity times 100 times 100”! The dream gets very unstable for a second (as if the screaming gave me contact with my body in the bed), but soon stabilize again. But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade afterwards anyway.”
