I Need Help Lucid Dreaming

I need some help lucid dreaming. Ive been trying for about two months now and I havnt had any luck so far. Theres a lot of suggestions on this website about different ways to make ‘reality checks’. I cant do this for a wierd reason, I dont know if anybody else has this problem: When I dream, I watch myself do things. I really dont have any control over my body. Its like Im watching a movie about myself, I couldnt even move if I wanted to. There have been a few times that I realized I was dreaming, but I still had no control over myself, and then like 10 seconds later I would stop realizing Im dreaming. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks.

WILD looks like the best option for you, since you will experience the creation of the dream, and you will feel more in control and more lucid, but WILD can take some time to master. You have to do it with WBTB though, because I don’t think you want to stay awake for six hours, counting

Dreams are like that for me too and I think I took a bit longer than 2 months to have my first lucid. you should just not give up. Yeah I agree keeping control of yourself in the lucid can be a bit hard but i guess the best way to do it would be to believe you can.

It took me 3 months oO Just keep doing what you’re doing and eventually you’ll get it.

I got mine by accident one night - I had a nightmare which woke me up in the middle of the night, I fell asleep and before I knew it I was standing among a bunch of people and went like “Hey! I’m dreaming!”.

I know what you mean by no-control. But that’s the point of the reality checks, what happens to me is that I’ll have a normal dream, not even realizing that I’m not in control, then because of repitition and habit, I’ll do a reality check in the dream then gain control and have it be lucid.

Hi dreamworld21, welcome to the forum!

Could you please explain your problem more precisely? Do you mean that you’re seeing yourself as another character (sort of 3rd person perspective)? As if you were seeing a movie in which you’re playing, and the observer is different from the actor? Or do you mean that you are the subject of your dreams indeed (1st person perspective) but you have no control on your acts?

I don’t know if i can give very useful advise as i haven’t had dreams like that myself. Samsta2007’s suggestion of WILDing does sound like a good idea. Also, you could spend some time each day to practise visualising/imagining things in first person persprective. You could make up little stories in your head or pretend you’re in a dreamscene, similar to VILD. After a while you might start seeing things differently in your dreams as well
