I need help with false awakenings

Hello All.

So for the past 3 nights, I’ve been using my WBTB, binaural beats, and WILD…I’ve been successful…I’ve had 3 very short LD. The reason they are short is because of FALSE AWAKENINGS. The first time, I woke up in my bed thinking I was woke but soon as I knew I was dreaming I was sucked into hypnagogic state. The 2nd time, was almost the same but I woke up fully. The 3rd time, I was being chased by an alligator and then it finally hit me I was dreaming. I even said “Hey, this isn’t real, its a dream!”. Then I woke up in ANOTHER dream telling a DC that I just had a LD    .

How can deal with these false awakenings?

From personal experience, you’ll definitely need to do reality checks more often. A sure-fire way that has helped me is literally every time I wake up, whether it be from a nap, or the daily night of sleep, I ALWAYS reality check by squeezing my nose and trying to breathe. It’s become a good habit and has (again, personally) reminded me of a few “attempted” FAs, and got me into Lucid-mode.

Now if I can just get better at WILDing…

I figured RCs was needed. I always forget to RC   . I haven’t come across any that I like and I found that sometimes it don’t work. I tried to put my finger through my hand in my dream but it didn’t work :help: :grrr:

Try using WBTB with WILD. I’ve been successful the last 3 nights of trying :content:

Yeah that’s the daily routine. I just get so sidetracked trying to keep my mind awake that 50% or so of the time I fall asleep lol. I’ll get it nailed with more practice.

As far as sticking your finger through your hand…I’ve also, strangely enough, had that fail on me before too.

I’m sure you’ll get it sooner than later :wiske:

Humm, ok so its not just me. What are some RCs that you do use besides holding your nose?

  • The holding my nose one is definitely my favorite one.
  • Another one I use is I pinch a piece of skin, and pull. For me, it gets very rubbery, easy to pull very long, and doesn’t hurt like a regular pinch. Although, I’ve heard of some people actually feeling pain in dreams before so proceed with caution lol.
  • I don’t know if others would recommend this, and it’s not really a reality check as much as it is an accident. If I look into a mirror when I’m dreaming, the image is never clear. For whatever reason, this knocks me into the lucid state. I’m like “yeah this isn’t right,” followed by a RC.
  • Another accidental one, I’m assuming it has a term, is whenever I see a tornado, I immediately do a reality check. I tend to have lots of tornado dreams. Not sure why lol.

Thanks, ill try those. I had a dream about a mirror not to long ago. I questioned how clear my skin was on my face but I didn’t become lucid. Almost
