I have trouble staying in Lucid Dreams while I’m in them. I’ve read somewhere that it helps to yell out “increase lucidity”, but I’m hesitant to do that because I’m afraid I will yell it out in real life. Is there any danger of this happening? Should I be worried about it?
Actually, you won’t yell it out in real life. There is a natural mechanism that prevents us from acting out our dreams, which is called sleep paralysis. It happens every time when you dream. So there’s nothing to be afraid of!
Another thing I have heard that is suppose to work is to either rub your hands together or spin around a few times.
I don’t think you would actually yell it out, like it’s already been said, because of sleep paralysis. I wouldn’t know from experience because the 3 LDs that I’ve had were all ended quickly by a false awakening or by the rudeness of my alarm clock.
I think the general idea is anything to keep you engaged with your dream environment. Spinning and hand-rubbing work by keeping you involved by sensing the texture of your hands, or by giving you the feeling of actually spinning around in an environment. At least I think that’s the idea, though I could be remembering the theory wrong.
I could work but there are other ways too.
Whenever I start loosing lucidity, I just say(or think, i don’t know):’‘No!I want to have a lucid dream’’, or ‘‘I want to stay in the dream!’’ or something like that.I just say it without thinking, it’s a reflex.
I also did it in my first lucid dream.
Therefore, when spinning or rubbing your hands you stay in the dream easier. Also, saying “I wanna stay in the dream” or “increase lucidity” will help big time as you are telling your subconscious that you want to keep dreaming.
I think that, generally, if you think you’re losing lucidity, just stop and think.
Tell yourself you are in a dream. Look around, and think, “This is all in my head”,“I’m in control”.
The other methods usually work very well too. But once, I just felt I was blacking out of an LD, and I tried to spin, rub hands etc, and nothing. The dream kept fading, so, in desperation, I immediatly punched a man who was walking past me . I don’t know if it was because of that, but I got really engaged in the dream (people were gathering, screaming, etc.), and managed to stay in it for at least what felt like 5-10 mins.
Maybe if you do something drastic whilst dreaming helps you engage, and therefore, increase lucidity.
to stay in dreams, and to increase lucidity you should first get out of the “oh it’s a dream! what should I do what should I do? so little time…” mentality, and instead, upon becoming lucid calm down, look around, experience the environment, do the stuff posted above, also look at your body, carefully observe the environment- tell yourself how realistic it is. Use all possible sences- touch your surroundings, smell them, feel the wind, etc, observe minute details and don’t “rush”. Do this for around 30 seconds and then continue your dream- you’ll find that when you can do this it’ll last much longer.
Some years ago I used to be very good in LD, but then I lost the ability or something… I stopped LD. Now I am getting back into LD but I am still very far from the level of lucidity I used to have in my dreams. These days I simply realise that I am in a dream but I am not fully lucid.
It is hard to describe, but I need to increase the level of lucidity.
(An example, in my last LD I said : “More clarity”, I said it in English as I read it in a tutorial on increasing lucidity. Next, a DC asked me in my native language : “What did you say?”
(Isn’t this funny? isn’t the SC supposed to go beyond a particular language) I translated it …but I was already following some other story in my dream and it turned out into a regular dream.)
I do not wake up from my LD , they just become the ordinary dreams.
In short, I am in a stage where I know I’m dreaming but my mind is still ‘sleeping’. Is this only autosuggestion? How do I wake myself, without waking up? You know what I mean…
Yes, sometimes you can become lucid in a dream, but you won’t be able to do anything about it.It happened to me, too.I knew I was dreaming, but the dream just continued normally. And btw, where are you from?
No, I still have the same problem. Last night I became lucid again, but it didn’t last longer than a couple of minutes… I tried not to do anything, just to stay aware of the fact that I am dreaming and to observe the dream… but it didn’t work … I lost lucidity … so
I said you should say ‘‘I want to have a lucid dream’’ or ‘‘i want to stay in this dream’’ or something like that. The worst you can do is just stand and do nothing.every time i tried this ‘‘I want to have a lucid dream!’’ it worked.I do it instinctively.Eto, da znaš
