IILD Imagination Induced Lucid Dream

Hello there Lucid Dreamers!

So I’m rather begginer in LD world. I was having a lot of problems with getting LDs by discovered techniques. I was using mainly MILD because that was the only way for me to get LDs. I tried many times and many ways(WILDs WBTBs VILDs etc.) but they didin’t work out well due to my body and mind which are complicating those techniques and making them not effective enough to use them. I think I lost my chance for vivid LDs long time ago when I was a child. As a 10 year old boy I was having very clear and realistic dreams but mostly nightmares. One night I was so afraid that I said to myself “I don’t want to dream anymore” and I stopped dreaming for about 6 years. Now I want to dream back again but none of technique known yet was satisfying for me. All I got after a 2 years of LDing was some blur dreams that occur very rarely. All of it has changed about three weeks ago when I was on holidays in Italy. We used to travel a lot in bus for long hours. During that travel time I started to imagine things and put them in real world and pretend they are as realistic as possible. You may even call this LDing while awake. And while I was having naps in the bus or rather coach I’ve noticed that I was having unusual LDs very vivid and long. I continued doing that imagination things for the next 2 weeks and it gave me very good results about 3 dreams every night. I’ve also noticed that the fear of the dark has returned I started to be afraid of going into hall or downstairs at 2 a.m. just like i did as a child. It was strange because I haven’t that feeling since I was 10 year old  After a lot of discussions on the Ld4all chat I came to the conclusion that I may have discovered new LD technique we’ve checked a lot of existing techniques but none of them fit completely that what I described however there were some that are very similiar to IILD. Now I decided to share this with you guys and see what you think about it.

Now the tutorial part

What you need to do is imagine things and pretend they are part of real world the more realistic the better and then go to bed  . But you must be focused on that task otherwise it won’t work out so well. I also noticed that when you are tired IILD is working better. I also noticed that it works pretty good with MILD. You can do IILD anywhere but I prefer to do it while I’m on a walk in some peaceful areas or when I’m on my way to the work(I’m travelling by bus). I like to watch some fantasy movies too because they enrich my imagination and it really helps in IILD.

When I first started doing this I called it imagination training and I pretty much treat it like this but I’m really glad that it works for me. I’m not trying to make anyone do it or say it’s the best technique I’m only happy that I can share it with you guys and that my LD life has just become more colorful and exciting

That’s it hope you guys like it and It will help someone get some nice LDs! If I notice anything new I’ll update the guide  .

Sounds like a great technique!

I’m glad you figured out a way to return to dreaming. It really is something amazing. As to your fear of the dark… next time you have an LD give the darkness a hug. Fight your fears my friend.

As to the technique itself, it sounds very interesting. While I don’t have time to test it or experiment with it, I’d be interested in hearing more about what you and others think. When I imagine things I tend to retreat into my mind and do all the imagining in a little world in my head. The idea of bringing the imagination into reality so it mixes with your conscious thoughts is an interesting one.

bro, that guide is amazing, i learn so many things, and i think i’ll use it

I thiinnk this can work. I’ll definittely try it! Not tonight but I’ll try it. It’s good to know that new techniques are still created by both experienced and not that experienced LDers.

The link between improvement in imagination and the fear of the dark returning is an interesting one. It’s like the reason you are afraid of the dark is because of the potential for your brain to project an imagined thought on to the blank canvas that is darkness. With an increase in imagination, especially the increase in vividness and realism this could potentially have an influence on your perception of reality, especially when the eye determines no visual stimulus and is given an opportunity to see what it wants to see.

I think for the majority of people who grow up in western society their imagination is suppressed and begins to stagnate as we are confined within the a set of predetermined parameters set up by society, which places little value on imagination and creativity and emphasizes much more material related characteristics such as work ethic and organisation… but this probably isn’t the place to get in to this topic.

As for the technique, I think that any activity, mental or physical that promotes your imagination can be beneficial for dreaming, since our imagination is essential what runs our dreams. Imagination is very underrated in our society IMO. Will definitely give it a try

That’s strange. I’ve done IILD before then I guess, but not intentionally.
Sometimes I’ll pretend I’m talking to a character next to me (not schizophrenic) and I’ll have a conversation or pretend I feel someones presence with me. Some are real people, some are characters I’ve made up. Also before I fall asleep I imagine myself with characters in a scenario I create and these are basically DC’s I’ve created YEARS ago before I knew about LDing. So, this should come easily to me!

@ Somnium Viator

You’ve got the point. Right now my logic part of brain is developed so much that I almost forgot what’s imagination. Now I’m working on getting that back . IILD is one of the ways to do it for me .

@ AJ

It is probable that you may’ve been doing IILD because it’s nothing extraordinary. I mean a lot of people imagine things in their minds and the whole idea was to take those out of your mind as much as possible . Also even before I discovered IILD there was at least 9000 other people doing the same. Just probability.

My research on IILD is temporarily stopped due to lack of time and amount of stress that’s in my life ATM. Hope I’ll get back on it as soon as possible. For now I’m waiting for your results

And thanks for all feedback i received so far .

This sounds like the PERFECT technique for me!

I’ve been on a dreaming hiatus for about a year now; it’s good to be back.

If I’m able to, I’ll definitely post some results.

Either way, thanks for sharing!
