I'm confused, and lost.

Last night I believe I had my first LD, I walked out of my garage and noticed that my neighborhood had turned into an empty housing development construction site, I was standing in the street questioning my self on what was going on. I thought to my self something isn’t right so I did two RC’s, the first one being the hand check BUT instead of my fingers going threw my hand it was like a magnet, everytime I attempted to push my fingers they would spring away from my hand. Still not convinced I went on to the nose method, and bam it worked I could breathe, I remember standing in street, my mind racing over and over again repeatedly saying I’m lucid! I was so excited. At one point the dream started to get fuzzy and up untill this poit it was the most vivid dream I had ever experienced. One i noticed the fuzziness I quickly rubbed my hands together and bam the clarity was back. I decided to go in the house for some reason and get my truck keys becuase I wanted to go drive around, once I walked back threw the door the dream went back to an ND. I just need someone with more LD experience to tell me that I was LDing, I don’t want to lie to myself or fabricate something in my mind that wasn’t true. After I had awoken I felt lost, I didn’t feel euphoric like people said they do, whilst in the dream I did. And why did I go back into an ND so quickly.

Congrats on your first LD! Sometimes you do lose lucidity, it can happen. Practice helps a lot though, along with experience.

So you forgot you were dreaming as soon as you walked though the doorway?

Here is an interesting study you might find useful. Article
The doorway effect is a study suggesting that walking through a doorway will make you more forgetful, I would assume the same thing happens while you are dreaming. Once you walked through the door into the new room your mind had to process all the new information it was receiving, which at the time was most likely deemed more important than the old information (your awareness of the dream), causing you to forget you were dreaming which lead back to a ND.

Did I not get that euphoric feeling when i woke up becuase I went back into an ND ?

Possibly, I am not that experienced with lucid dreaming, but I would assume that that would be part of the reason why. I know when I have LD’s which quickly transition back into ND’s I do not have that same feeling I get when I wake up directly from a LD.

My first LD was cool but at the same time a little uneventful as well. But just like ND some are more vivid than others. I think there’s different levels of lucidity and awareness, just like ND. It just takes practice and time. But you made the first step! You should be excited about that!
