Alright, this might be a problem that only I face, but it’s really troubling.
I love dreaming. It doesn’t even have to be lucid, just so long as I can remember in detail the exquisite stories of my nightly adventures, I am happy. It makes my day bright and delightful. For three months my recall is astounding, remembering 3-4 a night in perfect detail.
Then comes school. I am currently down to one dream a night, if I’m lucky. My days seem lackluster and I feel an emptiness without my little excursions into the realm of the impossible.
I ask for help. I have a dream journal, and diligently record all tidbits of the dreams that I recall, but it seems harder than usual. Does anyone have any good tips for enlivening a degenerated DR? Any replies are greatly appreciated.
Yes, I know exactly what you mean, with the addition of sleep schedules and all that. Unfortunately, since I’m in the same situation as you, I haven’t the slightest idea of what to tell you. All I can really think of is just to keep up writing in your DJ as much as you can, along with autosuggestion to help you with recall. Trying to recall dreams on the weekends also isn’t a bad idea.
<3 weekends. I actually have very decent recall on friday and saturday night. On sunday I feel as if I can carry my recall through to the next week, no problem. Come monday morning, nothing. haha, I guess I’ll just preserver
I’ve got exactly the same problem right now, and made some interesting observations:
In the holidays, I worked at a company for one month. I slept approximately as long as when I go to school, but my dream recall during that time was excellent. However, there was a difference: I had less stress than now (because there was no homework etc.). When I woke up, I felt completely relaxed and took myself several minutes to recall the dream.
Probably I should do the same thing again. It’s not too easy when you’ve got a lot of things in your mind.
The same problem applies for me. A couple of things help though, I’ve found:
Packing your school bag the night before. I always worry about forgetting things, and in the mornings one of my first thoughts is what lessons I have that day.
Try and get your homework finished before you go to bed. It really stresses me out in the morning if I have a huge list of things to do.
Setting your alarm 5 mins earlier… I like to lie in and have time to just relax and recall.
I have the same problem, so I set my alarm 6 hours after I fall asleep and try to recall my dream when I wake up. Most times I even get an LD!! Then, I set My alarm 10 minuites earlier, so I have a second chance to remember my dreams.
I’m in a similar situation. One of the best ways I’ve found to improve dream recall is to write down everything you remember during first period. As long as you put extra emphasis on remembering your dreams, you’ll have success.
