Ok just woke up right now… and I still can’t sleep. Music therapy just makes me more awake since I jsut start thinkng waay to much of how the song was made. Argh… sleepng is becoming next to impossible for me But on the bright side, I managed to remember a fairly long dream. And thanks for sharing that Antares. I’ll give it a shot tonight
Waking up requires sleeping
While listening to the music relax your body and keep fixating on one simple thought, the letter A for example. If another thought pops to your mind do not fight it but also do not “identify” yourself with it, just tell it to go away. If it is an important thought tell it you’ll spend time with it later.
Don get stressed over not being able to sleep, it makes you sleep worse. Just let it be for what it is.
If you roll around a lot that makes you take longer to sleep. What I usually do when I’m having a hard time falling asleep is I find a comfortable position and stick to it as long as I can. I only roll over after a long time and when I really really feel like I have to. Then I do it slooooowly and gently. You can see how after a while in the same position (relaxed, of course) can make you feel closer to sleep. Well, in my experience at least. It’s just like WILD, if you move you kinda snap out of it and the process resets.
Thanks Mattias, that’s a good tip for me too.
my other tip is lay on da bed and force urself to sleep
dont get out of the bed for nothing
close your eyes , for ever dont open them
dont think of nothing , dont focus on nothin , no sound no neighbors chatting
dont think what happend outside
why do you hear the siren , who cares just let everything go
if u need to hear or focus on something
hear yourself breathe inside your head- when you hear the sounds inside your head
know that your fallin asleep and that your on a good route.
Do that for 10 minutes hearing your breathing inside your brain, if you get passed this
do it for 20 or how ever long it takes for u to knock out
dont touch or fiddle with nothing
your body is dead
dont move it , dont do no movement
unlesss u have to cuz ur itchy or bathroom or w,e
this should def work, well works for me ,
focus on hearin the breath inside ur head , hear the sound
should be some what
(hollow when u think of it ) or harsh tone to it like hmmmmm but not exhaling but inhaling and with out the humming sound of “HMMM”
You really have to try it, that was my 500th post
Yeah it was your advice that has gotten me the closest to LDing yet.
The technique I’ve used the most so far (and probably the most effective) is WILD. Last night I tired it and got pretty damn close, closest I’ve gotten to LDing yet. So I’m just laying there counting my breathing and when I was around 450 my heart just started beating harder and and faster. I tried to ignore it but it just kept getting more intense. I kept counting my breathing and eventually my heart started relaxing and slowing down until the point where breathing became very easy. I was also paralized. I couldn’t move my body without having to put some effort into it. So I did a reality check by covering my nose holes with my hand but I could still breathe. I pinched myself but I still felt pain. I looked at my hand at looked normal. So I figured that I should just wait more and layed there counting up to 800. It was there that I knew I wasn’t getting anywhere so I just stopped. But now I couldn’t sleep, I tend to get hit by some pretty bad insomnia every time I fail to LD. But I’ve o ly been trying for about 5 days and my dream journal has hardly anything in it. But I’m not gonna give up until I have at least ONE lucid dream.
You know, that really is the case for most people…with WILD.
That also happened to me the first time I tried it.
So should I stick to WILD or experiment with other methods? Like MILD, for example.
It’s up to you.
You either put some more effort into WILD and really try it…you’ve got new advices…afterall, WILD is the ‘‘holy grail’’ of lucid dreaming.
But you could also try other methods, it’s your choice.
Wow, I’m just amazed right now. The dream I had this morning was the most amazing, longest, and vivid dream yet. What’s even more impressive is that it was related with what I wanted to lucid dream about! And as an added bonus, I didn’t get insomnia! (well, I did but it was just not as bad. Probably lasted about an half an hour compared to the 3+ hours I usually get) I used MILD and i guess it’s true when they say that it improves yor dream recall cuase it certanly helped mine! I also noticed 2 things about my dreams. First is that they’re getting longer and easier to remember and second, that I think I found my dream pattern or whatever it’s called. Downside is that I notice that dream pattern at the end of a dream and I’m wondering if that will afect my lucid dreaming?
Gah I need help again, the past two nights I’ve been randomly getting a strong urge to move in the middle of the WILD process. Of course I remember not to roll over too fast but even the slightest movement is enogh to wake me up. And my dreams have been getting shorter too. So um… help?
suspicious? don’t worry i’m not suggesting that you take some crazy drug or medication , it’s just like a vitamin, it can help induce sleep, because your body might not be producing enough of it (in case you don’t know melatonin is the chemical in your body that makes you sleep)
I’d recommend just forgetting about WILD for now and start trying RC 's. Just make your self do a reality check like every time you see the color green or something, and after long enough you should end up doing one in your dream. It requires you to do nothing as you fall asleep.
no clue how to help
Sorry if I’m reviving this topic so much but does it matter what you do after you wake up from WBTB? Like talking to someone, eating something, watching TV or just laying in bed all while thinking about lucid dreaming? And which method would be better to use after waiting for an hour?
It doesn’t matter as long as you keep your body relaxed and awaken your mind. I usually get out of bed, turn on the lights and listen to some agitated music with headphones
You can try WILD or MILD when you go back to bed, but any technique should be good…
If you have trouble falling back asleep or fall asleep too fast you can experiment with different times you stay up.
Awesome, thanks. Bad thing is I’ll only be able to try WBTB on weekends… However I had a weird dream this morning. In that dream I saw a man that for some reason, I knew. I’ve never seen him before but I just knew him. He was pretending to be a wax figurine or something because was dressed as a matador and not moving. I instantly knew he was real and laughed at his performance. He came to his senses and started complaining how I shouldn’t be here and other things along those lines. But I didn’t care, and this is the really weird part. At that moment I realized this was a dream but didn’t become lucid. I was sort of like in an auto pilot state. I did a RC and I could still breathe. I also noticed that dream was pretty dark and hazy and I remembered that shouting out “increase lucidity!” should help. So I shout it and before I know it, the dream ends. Whoa… What’s wrong with me? Shouldn’t I have become lucid at the moment I found out I was dreaming?
You WERE lucid…
You become lucid when you realize you are dreaming.
Your lucidity was just very low
Whoa really? Same thing happened this morning but this time I felt like I had more control. I tried to fly but I could hover, and everything looked like if I were cross-eyed too. However it was still very limted and was very dark and hazy. This time instead if the dream just ending, I guess I lost my lucidity and continued the normal dream which lasted about 30 seconds. Bleh I’ll go into more detail later today cause I have to go school right now.
