moved to Beyond, since it fits better there than in Pathways ~ Q ~
Sit down where you are, at your computer, and give this a try.
Stop thinking.
Then, what is the first thought that comes after you stop thinking?
Repeat it back to yourself once, and stop thinking again.
Do this, grab and hold, and repeat each thought, pretty soon you won’t be thinking any-more, and your mind should stack into silence and alpha/theta pretty quickly.
I’ll give an example and do it right now :
i am not thinking
k, holding this --> k holding this
waiting
no thoughts for five seconds
hearing fan
writing my thoughts, they should stop
stop now wait k
no thoughts
i am aliv
Bush yrics associated with that immediately follow
stop
just keep saying stop to yourself
grab each one and scrutinize it
silence for a while
3-4 seconds of silence “the gaps get bigger”
and so on, you are just kind of, not DELIBERATELY thinking, but letting your thoguhts go, and each time one goes, you make sure you know what it said, by repeating it to itself, then you remind yourself to be quiet
you should be able to pause your thoughts enough to have a trance in five minutes
any people want to try ?
advanced theoretical rambling in a coherent manner
basically when meditating there is the idea, to let the thoughts go, but then they might go forever
then there is the idea to not think, which, if you don’t know how, still just lets the thoughts go wherever
then there is the breath, which is a powerful tool, wherein you don’t really care about the thoughts
but there is also the idea of “watching thoughts” and not letting them pass without saying “aha, i see you!” so for this all you do, very very easy and simple is sit down, and you don’t think at all, but then a thought will come up, so you grab it by the tail and by repeating it once in your mind (repeating it once in your mind) you can then stop again briefly (you can then stop again briefly) and when you do this (and when you do this) you get to where you can stop longer (you get to where you can stop longer) each time, and pretty soon the thoughts won’t really pop up a lot
and then they will start being subconscious thoughts, where they are hypnagogic in nature
after they have sort of settled down then you can just breathe, or do auto-suggestion, or things like that, or tell yourself a good story to dream about, or visualize, because you are at trance pretty quick
the other alternative is sometimes we don’t think enough, so our thoughts go crazy on their own, so we should use our conscious mind like it were telling a story, making it ramble on about whatever comes to mind for a long time, this way we have control of thoughts and when we stop rambling they quiet down.
now the final way is to use a mantra or a suggestion, and only say it once
such as “aum”
then wait til you forget that you said it, and say it again.
