Introduction plus something that could get in the way of SP

Salutations, my name is Titan. Not TheTitan. That’s Minecraft. Anyway, I’ve never had a lucid dream, and I was wondering about something I do a LOT regardless whatever I’m doing. If someone tells me to relax (not like when I’m spazzing, etc) I always twitch in the area they tell me to hold still! Just yesterday, I was trying to hold a piece of wood still for mah mommy. As soon as she told me to hold it still, I was unintentionally moving it. I’ve had a few ‘trial runs’, and my neck always twitches. Help please?

TL;DR

Ok, fine. Hai. I’m Titan. My neck twitches whenever I try to enter SP. Halp?

EDIT: For those of you who are not forum junkies, TL;DR means Too long; don’t read.

First of all, SP is not necessary for LDs or even WILD. This is a pretty common misconception. SP is simply a side effect of your body locking while you sleep so you don’t move around in your dreams. It’s a natural function that happens to everyone every night. While it is easier to slip into a dream while in SP, it tends to be more trouble to induce it than it’s worth.

If you really do want to go into SP, don’t think about relaxing. Don’t even think about not moving. Just get comfortable. Keep your mind aware (count, repeat that you’re dreaming, etc.) and just forget about your body.

It can be easier if you stretch before you go to bed. Also, it’s way easier to achieve SP, WILD, or most lucid dreams if you sleep 4-6 hours before attempting.
