Let me say first that my english is not always very good, so I am sorry in advance for the mistakes I might make in writing I hope that what I write is clear enough, if it is not, please tell me and then I wil try again.
I was wondering about a technique that I came up yesterday, and I wondered what you thought about it. It came up because I was thinking about the dreamsymbols that I had in my previous dream. It had been about a lion and I figured that the lion, put together with the rest of the dream in this case was a symbol about strengt and being in control of situations.
I wondered if this symbol might help me to have lucid dreams, I imagined that I could write the word down each night before going to sleep. Or that I could visualize the lion image, draw it, write about it etc. And in that way ‘inviting’ this dreamsymbol in my dream. Because for me the lion is such a strong dreamsymbol, one that I see often it ‘might’ make me realize that I am dreaming in a more strong and aware way?
I imagined that I could, in this way, pick 5 (for me personally) strong dreamsymbols and do what I wrote above with each of them each night. I could pick dreamsymbols that have to do with awareness and clearity, to help me. Combined with the lion and what it represents those 5 symbols might help me to be in the right kind of mind and awareness. It is in a way, inviting certain parts of yourself in a dream. I believe that each dreamsymbol is a part of yourself. So when I pick choose the right parts, that I need for lucid dreaming, it might work? Ofcourse another person should pick dreamsymbols that fit him/her, for each person it would be different.
I really do not have a lot of knowledge about lucid dreaming yet, only about my own normal dreams and dreamsymbols. Maybe the technique would not work for some reason that is obvious to more experienced lucid dreamers, and maybe you could tell me. What do you think, is it worth a serious try?
I would love to really invite the lion by the way would be very cool if that worked.
Yes, I think this might work to induce LDing. I thought about it too lately. But instead of thinking of an animal or an object that one likes, I would choose a character (of a movie) that frightened my childhood. Indeed, when I was a little child, I would always have nightmare about it and I would always enter in SP.
SO, tonight I will try out a new technique, I will visualize this character in my mind just before sleeping so that would trigger some kind of state in which I will be aware I’m sleeping.
I decided that I am going to give it a good try as well. I am not sure yet if I wil just use the lion symbol, or if I wil do 5 symbols. One might be easier to focus on then 5, but it might be that 5 work more strongly. Because I might ignore the first 4 hints lol, but then the 5th might make me aware?
I think that I wil do this for 2 weeks, if it does not work I am going to seek for something else. Would 2 weeks be enough to make it a ‘good try’?
I don’t know but it’s worth trying it.
And if you are obsessed by an object, then you tell yourself that if you dream of that object, you will become lucid, and I think it would work.
But you must concentrate very hard on that symbol.
2 weeks would be sufficient.
First off, your English is great—much better than some who have English as a first language on the net.
So you want to use a recurring dream symbol to help you become lucid? It’s possible, and I’ve done it with only one of my recurring themes—the moon—but none of my others. For example, there was once a man who appeared in many of my dreams, but didn’t make me close to becoming lucid once, and as of September, that changed to a new man. Neither have made me lucid, but the moon has on a couple of occasions, sometimes instantly, as if I were meant to become lucid in that dream. Other times, it simply made me think of my dreams without causing lucidity.
My verdict? Give it a shot—you might be pleasantly surprised.
Hi there sorry that it took me so long to reply!
Thanks for the compliment ^_^, for some reason I enjoy the language a lot. I would like to teach myself to write it without mistakes, and have been trying to become better at it. Sometimes I even dream in english now, or in both languages at the same time, lol
Interesting that you became lucid of the moon dreamsymbol a couple of times. I can imagine that the moon would be a very good one. I have had no succes yet with my lion, but the week has been more filled with things then normal so I had less focus for letting it happen. I did have a very nice dream that was almost lucid though, about ‘dreamland’. So being here on the forum and reading things helps.
I have been reading your dream yournal a bit as well last week , I think you have interesting dreams ^_^. And a fun way of writing.
