iPod (Split from DJs and Turntables)

Neither should you get an iPod <.< help support us that wants apple to sell a different format than the iPod format, buy something else, anything else!

:eh:

:bored:

:help:

Are you aware that iPods do play not only M4U, but also MP3 files? (Plus another bunch of file types including the Windows Media formats…)

It’s true that Apple nearly created a portable music monopoly now that so many people are jumping on the iPod bandwagon rather than other brands and their devices. Just remember that the choice for me to get one in the future is up to me, and not you.

What he said.

Well, sure, but how many other devices are capable of doing the same things? It’s always good to research all the products available before making such a decision. I have gripes with people who automatically turn to Apple for the latest incarnation of iPod.

I’ve got a 30gig Cowon X5L. I think that it’s a better product than it’s Apple counterpart (the latest iWhatsit). It’s got a 35-hour battery life when playing music, too! I should stop now- I’m starting to foam at the mouth.

I have a Creative Zen Touch which has 20 GB space and fits in my pocket well. The battery stuff is pretty cool and it didn’t cost that much, so I’d recommend you that one.

Actually i have a Creative Zen Touch with 20GB space and a pretty nifty and cool carrying case thing to attach to my belt, It’s awesome :content:

Chalk up another for the 20 GB Zen Touch. I can’t really compare it to an iPod, as I’ve never owned one, but for the last year and a half, my Zen has been perfectly adequate for my purposes. It’s not the smallest player available today, but considering it has a hard disk (as opposed to Flash memory), it would be difficult to make it much smaller, and it’s not too cumbersome to carry around as it is.

It bothers me that a lot of people think the word “iPod” is synonymous with “portable music player.” But I suppose that’s what happens when a company spends a ridiculous amount of money forcing their brand name into every tiny crevice of society. There are many kinds of players available today, and a huge portion of them are easier to use or offer more features than the standard iPod. It’s worth looking around before you make a decision.

EDIT: It looks like Microsoft have just released their highly anticipated “Zune” music player today. And from the look of this news article, it’s a pretty nice piece of equipment. Perhaps a little excessive for the casual user (30 GB space, video playback, WiFi), but for the enthusiast, it seems to be at the top of the game.
