Is it a good idea to wake up during every REM stage?

I was thinking of trying to record dreams that I have throughout the night as often as possible, in other words I will try to wake up naturally during every dream I have throughout the night - but, is this healthy?
Will I get sufficient sleep if I wake up and record dreams that often?

It depends on your daily routine. If you don’t have anything special to do and if will not reflect badly on your day then I vote yes, go for it.

Because chances to remember dreams are higher and if you break your REM cycle and then when you go to sleep you will again enter REM cycle which means you have higher chances for WILD or any other tech…

Maybe the better solution is to wake up after REM cycle. The effect should be the same and while you record your dreams your NREM cycle is going to an end and your REM is closer which means that after some time you will enter new whole REM cycles which means more time for dreams/lucid dreams.

Your choice but I would go for waking after REM and this is much easier to achieve just using autosuggestion/mantra…

Good luck! :content:

You shouldn’t have any problems. For most of your sleep cycle, it is unlikely you will be having clear dreams. Therefore I wouldn’t bother trying to wake up during the first 5 hours or so (although you dream in NREM sleep it is hard to have awareness in them or recall many of the details). It would be best to wake up semi-frequently during the last two hours when you have the most REM. As far as I’m aware, that would be healthy and boost your chances of LDs.

I would not agree. When I was motivated 200% I was waking up only after 1.5 or 2 hours with remembering dreams very vividly and that was I guess after REM cycles.

It’s all in motivation. If you are motivated to remember dreams you will remember them, even NREM dreams…
