So I decided to take a nap and try WILD earlier, so I set up a white noise machine and made sure everything was good and laid on my stomach and I tried to pay attention to the white noise until SP could kick in (I’ve never done wild before, but i’ve tried many times) I started to feel kind of a weird feeling like a numb feeling and occasional twitching (?), but got stupid and tried to test it, thus ruining everything by moving. The clock said i’d been laying there about 15 minutes
So I went back and laid down, and did the same thing, and soon the numbness came back, and I was patient and waited until I couldnt even feel my upper body or arms anymore. my legs were a bit numb, and then I got stupid again and tried to see if it was the real thing by moving. And wow, I had a hard time moving my arms. I could move my legs just fine, but it was as if my arms were completely asleep for the next 30 seconds, then I went back to normal. I want to know if this is SP or not, because my arms WERE slightly elevated by my head on the pillow, but it should have been enough to make them fall asleep, plus the rest of my body felt sort of numb too.
It may have been sleep paralysis, but it’s also possible that you were simply in a deeply relaxed state. I would consider that just as good though. Also, I think you might be concerning yourself with sleep paralysis too much. Your goal is to fall asleep and enter a dream while maintaining awareness. Whether you experience strange sensations or not isn’t too important.
Just like Lucidis said, don’t concentrate on your body. SP is just something that happens naturally, and most of the times I’ve done it I don’t even notice it. If you do get into SP it makes falling into a dream easier since your body is already asleep, but it’s given far too much attention IMO. Concentrate in, not out. The more you think about feelings, the more attention you’re giving to your body, and the more you’re not falling asleep. You have to sleep to dream, after all.
Above all, keep it up and keep trying. Don’t get discouraged no matter how long you’ve been at it. WILD is one of those techs that you really have to personalize; no amount of guides will help you other than giving a rough idea.
