Ive just begun my quest for lucidity

Hello everyone

I stumbled across this website 3 days ago, and immediately knew id discovered the escape from life ive been dreaming of, no pun intended.

The same day I found LD4all I entered everything I could remember in my very first dream journel entry, which I have to admit wasnt a lot. Yesterday to my surprise, when I awoke, I could remember more from my dreams than ive ever been able to before. It was quite astonishing.

Even though this morning’s was only my third entry, it was at least 3 times the size of the last one. <3

I did remember something of interest from last night, and I was wondering if you guys could help me. Last night in my dream I read a text, and I specifically recall myself not being able to read the words off the screen. As Ive read on here, you cant accurately read anything in a dream.
I ask, is the fact that I somewhat realised I couldn’t read the writing and in my mind found it strange, progress in the direction of achieving lucidity?
Ive also been religiously performing reality checks over the last few days, so hopefully it will all fall into place soon.

Well, first and foremost, welcome to LD4all! you can introduce yourself more properly in the Gathering section, in the Big Hi topic.
I’d want to say, it is definitely possible to read stuff in dreams, as many, including me, have repeatedly done.
This says nothing of the individual experiences though, and reading stuff can prove difficult at times  in that case, you are already weirded out by what’s happening, and that would be one time to be questioning the reality around you. The basic idea is doubting your surroundings, so you might recognize them as a dream, so unreadable text is a pretty good dreamsign ^^
It seems you are on the right path, good luck on your Quest for lucidity! :content:

Ahh so it is possible to read things in dreams, very interesting.
Perhaps the very reason that I couldnt in this case, was because subconciously I expected not to be able to, because I had just read an article suggesting most words in dreams appear distorted. Which is exactly what the text in my dream looked like, fragmented and not entirely visible.

Thank you, I cant wait to become a bigger part of the community here, and for my lucidity to begin. <3

Yeah, it’s astonishing how quickly using a DJ kicks in. I wrote down 2 sentences in it one day and 2-3 days later I was writing pages of information. I was impressed. But, I’m with you on being new; the only LDs I have had were either almost too long ago to remember or I had 2 LDs in a row recently, but both only lasted long enough to keep me from getting killed by or infected by a zombie.
