When I try WILD, I do it as I’m going to bed because my alarm clock never wakes me up for WBTB. I go to bed really late, anywhere from 1 to 3 in the morning, so I’m pretty good and tired by that time. I just lay on my back and try to get HI and SP. Usually, though, I get problems such as eyes peeking open, nausea and headaches. When that happens, I usually give up because it’s pretty uncomfortable…but maybe that’s just how my body reacts to falling asleep, at least in that position, so it could be a good sign. Tonight, I’m going to see what would happen if I just ignored nausea and headaches and just laid there until something happened. Does anyone else do this? Does it work?
This is really, really unlikely to work, sorry. There’s no way you can fall asleep if you’re that uncomfortable, and even if you managed to drift off, nausea would make you too aware of your real body to ever leave it in any way. Just try autosuggestion, I swear it will work better than you think. Really try and concentrate on waking up early when you fall asleep and you will. You’ve got a much much better shot at that than just lying there for hours trying to ignore your discomfort. But if you want to give it a shot anyway, good luck to you.
I did try it, and it failed, but not because of why you said it would. I wasn’t too uncomfortable to fall asleep; on the contrary, I fell asleep too quickly. I didn’t have any problems with nausea or headaches this time (possibly because I was using only one pillow rather than two, maybe that has an effect) and I fell asleep while trying to focus on counting. So I think it’s worth another try (I tried a form of autosuggestion and it helped a bit but I never actually got an LD).
That happened to me too. I drifted into a sight sleep while counting.
check into your health
shouldn’t have either
I dunno if it’s worth checking out–I don’t even get it all the time. Last night I tried again (got REALLY close with counting and persisting) and I don’t remember getting nausea at all. I think I’ve linked the headaches to trying to focus my eyes on the “third eye” spot–I read in another topic that this is supposed to help with HI, but I think that’s what’s hurting my head. So I’ll just stop that
hmmmmm
that makes sense
focusing on it does help a lot but you can just focus the energy there without looking with your eyes
they say you should turn your eyes up though when meditating.
