Keith Oberman Speech on Scooter Libbey

Ok, for anybody that has seen this, and can locate a link to the video or transcript of this speech, please do.

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, please try to.

For anyone that has, I can say, wow, that was awesome. Keith Oberman basically said that Bush and Cheny should resign for Pardoning Scooter Libbey from jail time. I agree. Scooter Libbey exposed the identity of an undercover CIA operative going over whether weapons of mass destruction were really in Iraq. He was indited, and the jury and judge found him guilty. George W. Bush excused him from jail time, saying that it was “excessive”. There is evidence that he had reasons for doing so, as he had only pardoned a very small amount of convictions during his history as governer of texas. His autobiography seems to support this. He did this to protect himself and Cheny from Scooter testifying against them for ordering him to do this.

I’d like to hear a response on this. (And please no flaming, that gets topics like these locked.)

This is a disgrace of a justice system that is in itself a disgrace. I always knew he would do this, but I tried to convince myself that his desire for good public image or the liberals or something would make him leave the sentance, but no. Libby waves goodbye to jailtime, and the rest of us can all wave goodbye to our faith in the government. The law has been clearly bypassed. I don’t get to nullify my friends jail sentance when he gets caught with pot or something, why does Bush get to nullify his buddy’s jail sentance. All he did was oust the identity of an undercover CIA operative to directly retaliate against criticisms of out outright lies told by the administration made by the operative’s husband. What’s the big deal?

By the way, Libby was not pardoned. His jail sentance was taken away, he still get probation and a fine.

It was a great speech. Oberman is very well spoken. Here’s a page that has downloads of it:
