LD Performance and Planning

I think that it might be possible that bad LD perfomance may be linked to the fact that nobody really plans ahead before they dream it. Okay, well most people come up with something general, like flying, but shouldn’t we all be planning something deeper? I mean, the flying thing is a lot of fun, but it’s not the only thing. I think that people would have better LDs if they made a bigger plan of people that they were going to find and talk to or places they were going to go with these people, and have it all interconnected with other dreams. What do you think about that?

a lot of people make plans ahead and build in their
imagination the dreamworld they will like to be in.
when I’ll be able to achieve a lot of lucid dreams I will try planning on visiting Konoha that would be awesome[naruto fans out there?]
what do you plan on dreaming?

That makes sense, but I don’t really see any need to plan deeper initially. For me it’s easier to start with something vague, like flying or meeting someone, and then once I’ve done that, or sometimes even in the dream as I am doing it, I decide to narrow it down, like flying in search of beautiful clouds or asking a person certain questions. I don’t like to plan much deeper than that though, things that complex never really go as planned for me. Granted, I don’t know that I would want to plan my dreams too much anyways, that might ruin the unpredictability that makes dreams so much fun for me :content:

I think you are right. If I plan to do something in a LD, chances are I will think of it in one of the next few LDs and that will actually prolong the experience. On the other hand, if I do not plan anything, I will just do the usual things - looking around, hovering, etc., and then the dream will end.

It’s a bit of a predicament since I like to go along with the flow in my LDs and just see what happens and what I can discover. I also like talking to DCs. So, basically I would like to stay in a LD as long as possible and just look around and interact with the dreamworld. I guess I am just a curious person, an observer type. :peek: I do not actually try to control everything. (I can have a lot of fun with NDs, too.)

But since it helps to prolong dreams, I should probably formulate a plan of things to do while I am waiting for things to happen.

I find it difficult to plan my lucid dreams. Not only because I don’t know when I’ll have them but also because I don’t know what situation I’ll be in when I become lucid. So I don’t have a starting point. So my planning becomes very basic. Like. Stop, stabilise, look around. And add some general stuff that could be fun. It’s like a standard procedure to be used anywhere.

I think you’re right NapoleonDynamite. Planning something in order to have longer LD’s is a trick that has been used by a girl on the french forum.

I set myself challenges to do in my LD, and I give myself points for completing different things. You can read how I am doing in my DJ in the Dream Diary section on this forum.

BTW, the great majority of my LD’s to date has started in one exactly same situation - in my bedroom. So for people like me it is possible to plan and iterate.
