Losing Lucidity Really Quick

I have had around 3 lucid dreams so far and all of them have lasted no longer than 1 minute (dream time) i always end up just fading away or just waking up.

Ill start off by telling you the one i had last night.

I have started doing reality checks every hour or so for the past week and finally i did it in my dream

The dream:
I was walking down the street and i looked at my hand and i had a deformed hand so i knew i was dreaming but as soon as i realised i could feel myself getting too excited and my heart racing so i tried to calm down and i started to say “Increase Lucidity” and that seemed to work for a bit but then i walked to this fence and that’s when it just faded away and i lost control, i know i should rub my hands and spin and i usually do but this time it faded so fast i didn’t even get chance to do them.

Could anyone help me and tell me some tricks to prolong lucidity and to not get too excited?

Thank you so much in advance!

I feel like the first seconds are crucial to prolonging the rest of the LD, and on becoming lucid you are told to immediately rub your hands or something similar…but I think doing these prolonging technique right away actually makes me lose the dream.

I think the best thing is when you become lucid you should just not think about losing lucidity, and you should just go and do something!

For ex: You become lucid, and you start rubbing your hands, worrying about losing the dream, and consequently you lose the dream!

What you should try: You become lucid, then you calmly and controllable jump up and fly, or you walk to a food stand and start touching each fruit. Just get the mind moving and lucid rather than focus on losing the dream.

This is normal. In fact you’re doing good for a beginner. Keep doing what you do and your results will improve. People say that you should shout “increase lucidity” or that spinning around is the way to go. To categorize what everyone is saying, it’s about integrating with the dream. What I like to do is to always move around and touch the surroundings. This gives you a sensory input from the dream that is greater than your physical senses which will keep you in the dream.
